Base Salary: $110,000-125,000
About the Role
We are looking for a Data Scientist I to discover impactful member information hidden in our marketing, operational, customer experience, and financial data. You will be responsible for helping us make smarter decisions to deliver better offers, products and services to our members. The primary focus of the role will be performing statistical analysis, building high quality predictive analytics, and developing AI and ML systems that will integrate with our eCommerce website, customer portal and internal marketing and operational tools and applications.
Our data science projects range from demand forecasting to contextual multi-armed bandits for personalized recommendations, with data scientists supporting the full ML stack including contributing to the feature store and managing inference pipelines in production, and this role will contribute to all aspects of the model lifecycle. We also partner closely with the marketing and commercial operations teams in designing experiments to measure model impact.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Product Management, Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain, to understand business objectives and frame data-driven problems effectively.
- Perform analysis using relevant data tools; we use Python, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
- Contribute to all aspects of a machine learning solution, from problem framing with stakeholders to production implementation, impact measurement, and presentation to the leadership team.
- Collaborate with senior data scientists on the development of models to solve complex business problems and own components of the solution.
- Assist with support and maintenance for existing models in production.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of proven experience solving business problems using SQL and coding.
- Professional or academic coursework experience with statistical analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, hypothesis testing, and time series analysis.
- Hands-on experience with the model development process, from feature selection to model evaluation.
- Ability to communicate complex findings and solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with large datasets in a cloud environment; we use Azure.
- Experience with or eagerness to learn the tools and engineering skills involved in developing and supporting models in production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in solving marketing and operational problems within an e-commerce or similar domain.
- Exposure to personalization or causal inference machine learning techniques.
- Experience working with version control; we use github.
- Experience with object-oriented programming.
