LOCATION:

  • This position may be located in the Round Rock, Texas office location or the CFC Headquarters in College Station, Texas.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in credit risk management or underwriting, with a minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and commercial lending practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively to senior management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance related to credit approval. 

FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and mentors a team of credit approvers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Ensures constructive credit extension balancing risk, return, and customer engagement by acting on loans and loan servicing actions within delegated approval authority and making appropriate recommendations on requests exceeding delegated authority. Meets directly with customers when necessary to ensure appropriate credit decisions are made, proper loan servicing occurs, and to help the relationship team build customer engagement.
  • Oversees the credit approval process for commercial, consumer, and retail lending ensuring timely and thorough evaluations of credit applications.
  • Evaluates and approves large and complex credit requests, providing insights and recommendations to mitigate potential risks while supporting business objectives.
  • Participates in loan committee for large and complex loans to approve and assist in developing sound credit facilities and credit administration for large commercial, participations/syndications, and retail accounts.
  • Monitors and analyzes credit portfolio performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement, reporting findings to the Chief Credit Officer and senior management.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including lending, risk, and compliance, to align credit strategies with overall business goals.
  • Ensures that all credit approval activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, and are appropriate structured. Develops and implements credit policies and procedures to ensure sound credit risk management practices are adhered to throughout the organization.
  • Contributes towards development and implementation of loan underwriting, loan servicing, risk rating, and credit policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Contributes toward credit training needs, program development, and participates in presentations at training programs as requested.
  • Monitors loans and loan conditions, association reports, and, as requested, prepares reports for indications of unsafe or unsound lending practices and violations of regulations, policies, or procedures.

  • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, underwriting principles, and risk management practices.
  • Strategic thinking to align credit policies and processes with overall business objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting information to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities to address credit-related challenges.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards in credit approval.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships across the organization.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in credit assessments and reporting.
  • Flexibility to navigate a dynamic business environment and respond to changing market conditions.
