EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in the area of real estate appraisal with emphasis on appraising agricultural producing properties
- Two (2) or more years of lead/supervisory experience.
- State of Texas General Real Estate Appraiser Certification and a professional appraisal designation preferred.
FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees the creation and implementation of a model assisted valuation system including development of models, performance testing, troubleshooting problems.
- Communicates with and trains association appraisal staff and evaluators on best practices involving model assisted and benchmark valuation programs.
- Oversees the association’s sales database and directs data analyst team to ensure consistency and accuracy of sales data entry, along with consistent application of identified factors that impact real estate values.
- Works with Risk Department to develop and maintain policies, procedures and monitor compliance.
- Develops and maintains model assisted valuation methods and systems for targeted land market areas using well organized and classified sales data.
- Conducts appraisals of complex, highly specialized real properties, farm-related businesses, and rural homes; provides court testimony, as necessary, for the loan appraisal program.
- Develops and conducts model assisted valuation and benchmark training for personnel; provides technical assistance and counsel on use and application of same.
- Conducts reviews of appraisals and prepares report to management on results.
- Supervises data analysts and appraisal associates.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- General knowledge of accounting/financial systems.
- Specialized knowledge of property and collateral appraisal methods.
- Specialized knowledge of real estate instruments and records.
- Skill in research and analysis of public records.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Moderate skill level in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to perform appraisals, including complex agricultural producing properties under limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate complex information to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to travel on a routine and regular basis, as necessary.
- Thorough understanding of the workings of the AgWare database.
- Understanding of higher-level statistical analysis.
