The Pre-Construction Services team manages the Pre-Construction process for renewable Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utility Scale Power Projects (UPP). The Pre-Construction Design Engineer will be responsible for projects in both pre and post-close phase through to interconnection approval for buildability. In this role the Design Engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the project while interfacing with several internal departments including: Design & Engineering, Utility Interconnection, Procurement and Accounting. The PM will serve as the primary contact with customers and is responsible for subcontractor relationships.
What you’ll do:
- Provide Design and Engineering Services support on Commercial and Industrial projects both in pre-construction and currently under construction, under the supervision of the design and engineering manager
- Coordinate technical support throughout the life cycle of the project for the following departments: sales/development, engineering, permitting, procurement, construction.
- Interact with a variety of engineering disciplines including electrical, structural, mechanical, architectural, civil, geotechnical, and landscaping.
- Support reviews of plans, specs, supporting documents, and submittal. packages for compliance with Company standards
- Utilize engineering related software or other related software to support the design and engineering process (Helioscope, PVsyst)
- Manage engineering project documentation including cataloging photos, construction documents, project notes, equipment specifications, through related software (Sharepoint, CMiC).
- Review the compliance of subcontracted energy models for Commercial & Utility scale solar systems utilizing Helioscope, PVsyst, and others in regards with the company standards
- Participate/Perform site visits for project assessment/feasibility/constructability, obtaining information/pictures on existing conditions/equipment, answering RFIs, closeout, and commissioning.
- Create and oversee design/engineering drawings necessary for Commercial & Industrial scale solar systems utilizing AutoCAD and others with design oversight.
- Review material submittals for projects, according to the internal submittal process.
- Assist in the creation of bill of materials and parts lists.
- Politely, effectively and succinctly communicate with customers, vendors, agencies and co-workers.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design or related degree.
- Two (2) years of experience working in engineering, construction, designing and project management preferably in renewable energy industry.
- Ability to interact/communicate effectively in a professional and pleasant manner with Company’s customers, vendors, affiliates, stakeholders, owners, management, and employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate proficiently within the in-house computer software programs and Microsoft Office Programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook
