The role...
The Business Analyst provides business analysis, project management, software configuration and hands-on systems support for multiple technologies within the Lab Informatics portfolio. This position partners with multiple business teams, IT project teams and IT Operations teams to understand needs, define requirements, identify, implement and support technology solutions. This role requires the ability to form partnerships with the business users and business leaders. The role also requires the ability to understand core business processes.
You'll have the opportunity to…
- Work closely with Lab Informatics business users to suggest and provide solutions to business problems, opportunities or requirements.
- Lead and participate in business planning, needs analysis and business risk assessment, process redesign; and consult with the internal customer on how to best support their area through the effective use of technology.
- Independently manage business process analysis, process improvement and business requirements gathering from the internal customers and translate them to specific software requirements.
- Update issue tracking systems to provide transparency to User Stories; assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
- Prepare testable requirements (user stories) and use cases.
- Build project plans, engage resources, and drive implementation projects to successful completion, meeting well defined requirements, managing scope and keeping within project schedules and budgets.
- Provide ongoing change control, maintenance and end-user support for lab Informatics applications.
- Prepare software development life cycle deliverables, such as functional specifications, design documents and test cases.
- Plan and execute system, integration and acceptance testing.
- Identify risks, potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
Who you are and what you bring to the team...
- 4-8 years prior experience as a Business Systems Analyst.
- Degree in Biologics, Biotech, Biochemistry, business or related field preferred.
- Experience with Business Process Mapping, business requirements elicitation and definition, requirements planning and management, requirements and gap analysis and documentation, conducting feasibility studies, preparing business cases, solution assessment and validations.
- Experience with any or all of the following:
- LIMS
- Financial Planning and Analysis solutions
- Reporting tools such as Tableau
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of SQL: ability to create SQL queries is a bonus.
- Knowledge of Software as a Service (SAAS) applications.
