Senior Accountant
Overview:
Champions Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Brea, CA (this role is 100% in-office). The Senior Accountant will be a key member to our Accounting team, providing knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger systems and lease accounting, which are key requirements for this role. The Senior Accountant will oversee the accounting for several assigned areas, including inventory, prepaid assets, fixed assets, CIP, accruals and leases for the Company’s 18 brands. The ideal candidate will be self-driven and detail-oriented, with a proven track record of balancing multiple key deliverables. Ultimately, you will ensure the accounting transactions for your areas of responsibility are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for recording and reporting certain financial assets and liabilities, including the Company’s inventory, fixed assets, accruals and leases.
- Utilize the Company’s general ledger software to record journal entries and assist with the month end close process. Including:
- Prepare, analyze and record inventory adjustments on a monthly basis.
- Prepare, analyze and record fixed asset entries and track capital expenditures.
- Prepare, analyze and record lease accounting entries on a monthly basis.
- Prepare, analyze and record payroll entries on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and analyze various balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Meet month-end close deadlines.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting schedules, while analyzing changes from prior periods and budgeted amounts.
- Monitor and report on the Company’s capital expenditures.
- Track the Company’s CIP projects and meet with project owners.
- Develop process documentation, policies and procedures and provide recommendations for continued improvements to existing processes.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and promote an effective control environment.
- Assisting with and preparing schedules and other deliverables for the annual audit.
- Collaborate with finance departments and operations management across the Company.
- Ad hoc reporting and projects as needed.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Three to five years of proven work experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience meeting month end close deadlines, preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger systems and fixed asset software, preferably with SAGE Intacct.
- Intermediate skill level with MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, SUMIF formulas).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-entity and multi-site environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- SAGE Intacct experience is a plus.
Education:
- BS degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
- Relevant certification (e.g., Masters in Accounting, CPA) is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Work in front of a computer for hours at a time.
- Use a keyboard and calculator.
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects 20 lbs.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Required to sit and climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Pay Range
$85,000 - $95,000 USD
