
Benefits Specialist
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic team at Champions Group! In this role, you will provide essential support to the Benefits Manager in the daily administration of our company’s comprehensive employee benefits programs. Your expertise will make you a valuable resource for our employees and Field HR teams. This role will be temporary for 6 months with potential for permanent hire.
As a Benefits Specialist, you will assist with addressing employee inquiries and resolving benefit-related issues, facilitate enrollment processes, and contribute to reporting and ongoing benefits projects across our diverse portfolio of 23 brands.
Your organizational skills will be crucial as you manage requests, projects, deadlines, and follow-ups efficiently. You will collaborate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure that employee concerns are addressed accurately and in a timely manner. This position is vital for enhancing departmental efficiency, maintaining consistent processes, and fostering a positive employee benefits experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Benefits Administration & Employee Support
• Assist with the daily administration of medical, dental, vision, retirement, voluntary benefits, life, disability, and other employee benefit programs.
• Be the first point of contact for employee benefits questions and concerns, providing timely, accurate, and friendly support.
• Research and resolve benefits enrollment, eligibility, carrier, billing, and claims-related issues.
• Help employees navigate benefits and benefit administration systems.
• Support new hires, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and other benefits-related transactions.
• Partner with Field HR and employees to ensure benefit enrollment deadlines and requirements are met.
• Assist in reviewing carrier and HRIS files for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation.
Benefits Systems & HRIS
• Support the administration of our company’s HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
• Assist with system testing, audits, data validation, and troubleshooting.
• Help identify system or process issues and recommend improvements.
• Support benefits system implementations, enhancements, and ongoing configuration as needed.
• Assist with maintaining employee communications, enrollment materials, and system content.
Project Management & Process Improvement
• Assist the Benefits Manager with benefits projects and initiatives across approximately 23 brands.
• Coordinate smaller projects from planning through completion, including timelines, communications, follow-up, and documentation.
• Help organize and track multiple projects, deadlines, and action items.
• Identify opportunities to simplify benefits processes and improve the employee experience.
• Develop and maintain procedures, process documentation, checklists, and resources.
• Help create more consistent benefits processes and communications across brands.
• Support special projects related to annual enrollment, vendor transitions, system implementations, audits, and benefits program changes.
• Provide additional support and special projects as assigned by the Benefits Manager.
Compliance & Reporting
• Assist with benefits-related compliance activities, including ACA and other applicable federal and state requirements.
• Support benefits audits, reporting, and data reconciliation.
• Assist with monitoring eligibility, enrollment deadlines, and required documentation.
• Maintain organized records to support compliance and internal audits.
• Escalate compliance concerns or complex issues to the Benefits Manager as appropriate.
Wellness & Employee Engagement
• Support the development and administration of employee wellness initiatives and communications.
• Assist with wellness campaigns, employee engagement activities, and benefits education.
• Help evaluate participation and identify opportunities to increase employee awareness and utilization of available benefits.
• Support the creation of employee-friendly benefits communications and educational materials.
Required Qualifications
• 2–4 years of experience in employee benefits, HR, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of employee benefits, including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement/401(k), Voluntary, Life, and disability benefits.
• Understanding of benefits eligibility, enrollment processes, and employee benefit administration.
• Basic understanding of ACA compliance and benefits-related regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with an HRIS and/or benefits administration system.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to research issues, identify solutions, and follow problems through to resolution.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes and shifting priorities.
• Strong customer-service mindset and ability to communicate benefits information in a clear, approachable manner.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Benefits, HR, payroll, vendors, carriers, and employees.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
Physical Demands
• Regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job generally operates in a clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled professional office environment with minimal physical hazards or unsafe noise levels. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copy/fax machines, and other office technology. The noise level may vary based on the shared workspace.
