The Information Technology (ITS) department at Charles River Associates is currently a team of more than 40 professionals dedicated to enhancing, maintaining, and developing the firm's technology infrastructure and security. The team is comprised of four functions:
- Service Delivery & Telecom
- Enterprise Application Solutions
- Infrastructure, Networking and Cloud Solutions
- Information Security
Information Technology staff are based in the Boston, Chicago, London, Munich, New York, Oakland, San Francisco, College Station and Washington, DC offices.
Mainly a Microsoft house, CRA is looking to maximize the performance of our on-premise systems and hybrid infrastructure, meaning experience with cloud technologies is essential for this role.
Job Overview
The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will be responsible for:
- Installation, configuration, maintenance and support of infrastructure and systems in multiple Datacenters across the globe
- Maintaining the integrity of data backup and archive processes
- Production support requests
- Security and integrity of the production and development environments, in accordance with Office and Security Policies
- Ensuring Disaster Recovery plans are kept up to date and tested
- Work includes on call rotation.
Key Skills / Experience
- At least 8 years demonstrable experience with detailed knowledge and understanding, including the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of the following core technologies:
- VMware Data Centre Virtualisation, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter etc
- Micro segmentation
- VMware Horizon / VDI
- MS Active Directory - Enterprise level
- Storage Technologies – Hybrid, Flash, Nimble
- MS Windows Servers
- PowerShell scripting
- Experience in AWS, Azure or GCP is desirable
- Ability to create high-level and low-level designs for deployment of new technologies
- Experience supporting large/enterprise level infrastructures
- Knowledge of system hardware platforms including HP/Dell/Cisco
- Perform audits, peer reviews and due diligence as required.
- Possession of at least one professional virtualization certification is desirable

Work Location Flexibility
CRA creates a work environment that enables our colleagues to benefit from being together in the office to best deliver on our promise of career growth, mentorship and inclusivity. At the same time, we realize that individuals realize a range of benefits when working from home periodically. We currently ask that individuals spend 3 to 4 day a week on average working in the office (which may include traveling to another CRA office or to a client's location), with specific days determined in coordination with your practice or team. At certain times of the year (e.g. holiday periods), additional remote work options are offered to those whose work commitments permit it, although our offices remain open for those who choose or need to be there.
