About the Role
CharterUP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, implement, and own a wide variety of customer-facing software systems powering our two-sided marketplace business. You’ll work closely with our engineering leaders, product managers, and engineering team to design and build systems that will scale with our rapidly growing business needs. You will lead a wide variety of technology initiatives across multiple disciplines, including Web Applications, REST API Services, Mobile Apps, Data Engineering, and DevOps.

Reports to: Director, Engineering
Location: This position is based in Austin, TX (Hybrid: Monday, Wednesday, Friday in-office).
What You’ll Do

Create high-quality software products using JavaScript (Vue, React) for the front end, and a Java-based platform for the back end

Deploy high-quality software products to our AWS cloud infrastructure

Develop tooling and processes to benefit our growing team

Though this is not a people manager role, you will mentor more junior engineers on technical skills

Define and promote software engineering best practices

Contribute to technical vision, direction and implementation

Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure systems scale with business needs.
What You’ll Bring
-
4+ years of experience as a professional fullstack software engineer
-
Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to deployment, working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Experience with building rich user experiences with Vue, React, or Angular frontends
-
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably of AWS
-
You are a coder that loves to be hands-on, leading the charge on complex projects
-
A collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams (engineering, design, product).

Comfortable taking ownership end-to-end of deliverables
