About the Role
Title: WordPress Developer
Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer
Location: Austin, Texas
CharterUP is seeking a versatile WordPress Developer to own the design, development, and optimization of our website. This role blends creative design skills with strong WordPress development expertise, ensuring our site is not only visually compelling but also high-performing, user-friendly, and aligned with business goals.
You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining CharterUP’s digital presence, ensuring the site is technically sound, scalable, and optimized for performance. While collaborating with marketing, product, and design stakeholders, you’ll translate strategic priorities into a functional, conversion-focused web experience that supports growth.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end website management — from design mockups and UX/UI improvements to WordPress development, content structure, and performance optimization.
- Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins to support new features, functionality, and integrations.
- Ensure responsive design and accessibility standards across devices and browsers.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to implement campaigns, landing pages, and conversion-optimized flows.
- Implement SEO best practices across design and development, ensuring metadata, internal linking, and site speed support visibility.
- Monitor analytics and performance, leveraging data to improve UX, conversion paths, and overall site effectiveness.
- Manage integrations with third-party tools (e.g., CRM, analytics, marketing automation platforms) to enhance site functionality.
- Stay current on web design trends, WordPress advancements, and digital tools to drive innovation.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience as a WordPress Developer, ideally in a fast-paced or growth-stage environment.
- Proven ability to design and implement user-friendly, responsive, and visually compelling web experiences.
- Strong skills in WordPress development (theme customization, plugin management, site optimization, performance/security best practices).
- Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript) with an eye for design and usability.
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite for creating and refining mockups.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and their application within WordPress.
- Experience integrating third-party tools and marketing platforms to enhance functionality.
- Strong project management and collaboration skills, with the ability to balance creative vision and technical execution.

$70,000 - $75,000 USD
