What you'll do
We're looking for a Legal Associate to join Clara’s Legal team in Mexico. You’ll play a key role in ensuring Clara’s local operations remain compliant, well-documented, and legally sound. Working closely with our Legal Lead and global teams, you'll manage operational legal work that supports our business goals while reducing risks, with a primary focus on supporting our local Mexican entity and stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and organizing commercial contracts, NDAs, and corporate documentation.
- Providing legal support across internal teams—especially Sales, Finance, and Operations—to ensure interests are well represented.
- Supporting Clara’s compliance with Mexican regulations, particularly regarding data protection (LFPDPPP) and AML frameworks.
- Managing communications and deadlines with regulatory bodies, including the CNBV and Banxico, with support from senior counsel.
- Assisting in responses to administrative requests, extrajudicial notifications, and potential investigations by local authorities.
- Maintaining up-to-date legal files and records across tools like Google Drive and Slack.
- Collaborating with the global Legal team to align on standards and policies across LatAm while ensuring local execution.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Must haves
- Law degree and valid license to practice in Mexico.
- 1–3 years of legal experience in corporate, commercial, or financial law.
- Working proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Experience or interest in AI tools to automate workflows and document management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external clients.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over deliverables.
- Adaptability to fast-changing environments typical of a high-growth fintech.
Nice to haves
- Previous experience in a startup, fintech, or technology environment.
- Familiarity with Mexican financial regulation and AML laws.
- Basic proficiency in Portuguese or a desire to learn it.
- Independent analytical skills using spreadsheets.
- A good sense of humor.

Clara’s Hybrid Policy
Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.
We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
