Who you’ll be working with

We ideate, create, and coordinate. We analyze, strategize, organize, and prioritize. We bridge the communication channel between the client and our project team. We chart the course and navigate the product roadmap sprint by sprint. Some of us are product owners. Some of us are scrum masters. Many of us wear multiple hats and do whatever’s needed to deliver successful projects.

Role overview

We are currently seeking an eCommerce Product Strategist. The selected candidate will be a motivated, career focused team player with a desire to work in a growing small company. Our eCom product strategists are focused on enabling clients to provide best-in-class, high-touch and personal eCom experiences. The role of the eCom Product Strategist is to be the primary subject matter expert for eCommerce. They must deeply understand our clients, their business problems, and consistently strive to improve the overall end customer experience from start to finish. You will partner with key stakeholders to define a sensible eCom product strategy, influence the development of products and services, and manage prioritization and trade-offs for speed to market, performance, and features. You will participate across a set of client engagements and work closely with executive stakeholders and Codal teams to continuously deliver value for our clients.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop a deep understanding of the client's business model, competitive landscape and customer/user segments, and use these to inform business and eCom product strategy.
  • Act as a partner with our clients to develop strategic eCommerce approaches covering eCommerce platform selections, plug-ins & integrations, and supporting architecture to deliver an engaging experience for end customers.
  • Drive the eCommerce roadmap for our clients including proactively identifying growth opportunities to convert qualified traffic volume, optimize new and returning consumer journeys to ultimately increase eCommerce revenue and profitability.
  • Plan and and execute eCommerce focused discoveries including facilitation of activities covering journey mapping, site audits, customer and stakeholder interviews, product ideation, MVP definition, third party analysis and architecture reviews.
  • Comfortable being hands on when required to handle tactical/execution responsibilities including review of third party integrations, feature & story definitions.
  • Partner with delivery team members (PMs, Designers, Devs, QA Engineers) to ensure delivery is feasibly in line with proposed implementation plans and assist with delivery communications including client check-ins (timelines, scope, and budget).
  • Define and scale a repeatable eCom strategy while pursuing a data-driven approach that prioritizes results over delivery of features.
  • Constantly measure the success of your project and the products you own to ensure the team is on the right track to deliver value to the client and the business.
  • Demonstrate curiosity in the overall digital eCommerce industry by staying up to date with latest innovations and practices including emerging business and eCommerce channel opportunities to help continuously drive our team’s innovation and competitive advantage within the field.

What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)

  • 7-10 years of relevant DTC and B2B eCommerce experience
  • Ability to guide clients through strategic decisioning based on understanding of their business needs
  • Experience with multiple eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, BigCommerce, CommerceTools, Magento, and/or Commerce Cloud 
  • Experience with platform vendors for ERP, CRM, OMS, payment gateways, CMS, search, PIM, inventory management, shipping logistics and analytics,
  • High energy, team player, creative thinker, and strategic influencer.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with distributed cross-functional product delivery teams including UX/UI, development engineers, and QA 
  • Maturity and good judgment. 
  • Skilled in negotiating, influencing others, analytical thinking, leading others, and executing and implementing projects.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment.

Bonus Points for these (Preferred Experience) 

  • Good understanding of theme-based versus headless architectures.
  • Experience with ERP integrations and custom middleware implementations into an ecommerce ecosystem
