We’re seeking a Head of Commerce and Retail Media who will develop and lead the agency's comprehensive commerce strategy, aligning client objectives with the dynamic omnichannel retail media landscape. This role demands a visionary leader with a track record of innovation, client partnership, and team development who can bridge strategic planning with flawless execution across omnichannel retail media networks.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision:
    • Partner with Chief Operating Officer to develop and own the agency's overall commerce strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving client needs and the omnichannel retail landscape.
    • Identify and capitalize on emerging technologies, trends, and partnership opportunities within the commerce space to maintain the agency's competitive edge.
    • Serve as the agency's thought leader and subject matter expert on all things commerce, both internally and externally, including representing the agency at industry events and client engagements.
    • Develop agency segmentation models to better service client needs across commerce initiatives.
    • Establish retailer prioritization models, mix frameworks, and opportunity sizing tools to guide strategic investment decisions.
    • Foster executive level relationships with key retail partners and clients.
  • Client & Retail Partnerships:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with client executives and key decision-makers at major retailers (e.g., Walmart Connect, Kroger Precision Marketing, Target Roundel, Amazon, etc.).
    • In partnership with Chief Operating Officer, manage and evolve the unified development, negotiation, and execution of Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key retail partners, ensuring mutual growth and success.
    • Serve as top level commerce support on key accounts providing integrated, commerce, strategic guidance and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service and results.
    • Own annual business planning processes, including forecasting, same-store growth development and tactic/investment expansion, risk mitigation strategies, and quarterly/annual reviews.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Develop comprehensive training materials and programs covering key areas such as commerce strategy, omnichannel ecosystems, AMC usage, 3P shopper marketing, full-funnel media approaches, retail readiness, and other relevant topics.
    • Build, mentor, and lead the integration of commerce teams across various disciplines, including retail programmatic and search in our mission to evolve into a platform based structure for mid-market clients.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
    • Create and deliver robust training programs to elevate agency and client retail team capabilities.
    • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and processes to ensure efficient and effective team operations.
  • Commerce Solutions & Execution:
    • Retail Programmatic: Leverage programmatic platforms, including non-Amazon DSPs and shopper data, to deliver targeted advertising campaigns across retailer networks.
    • Commerce Retail Media Search: Optimize sponsored product ads and other search-based tactics to drive visibility and sales on retailer platforms.
    • Commerce Strategy: Develop comprehensive eCommerce and integrated retail media strategies that align with clients' overall business objectives, connecting client goals to tactical investments, forecasting, and opportunity sizing.
    • Retail Readiness: Develop integrated approaches to link insights, strategy, and outcomes across retail readiness and media activation, building best-in-class retail readiness capabilities (content optimization, SEO, etc.) and ensuring comprehensive performance measurement.
    • Oversee the development and execution of full-funnel commerce strategies for clients, encompassing:
  • Capability Building and Frameworks
    • Develop retailer prioritization models, media mix frameworks, and opportunity sizing tools to guide client investment decisions.
    • Drive programmatic expansion by deepening expertise with non-Amazon DSPs and leveraging retail media provider data with priority on The Trade Desk.
    • Bridge strategy and execution across media activation and retail readiness teams, enhancing performance measurement and developing integrated measurement frameworks across functions.
    • Audit and develop improved ways of working across all levels of organization to create incremental efficiencies, more rapid delivery, and better profitability.

You should have:

  • 10+ years of experience in retail media, Commerce, and digital marketing, with a strong track record of success in agency, partnership, and/or operational roles. Strong focus on omnichannel retail media networks and client partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of the retail media landscape, including major players like Walmart Connect, Amazon Advertising, Target and others as well as their connected data offerings including chiefly Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) and others.
  • Strong relationships with key decision-makers at major retailers.
  • Extensive experience in developing, negotiating, and executing Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with retail partners.
  • Expertise in retail programmatic (including non-Amazon DSP strategies), commerce retail media search, commerce strategy, and retail readiness.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience presenting at industry events and conferences.
  • Experience managing P&L and financial performance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Walmart Connect, Kroger Precision Marketing, Criteo, CitrusAd, and Epsilon.
  • Experience in developing retailer prioritization and media mix models.
  • Strong understanding of integrated measurement frameworks and full-funnel media approaches.

Salary Information: The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 and is commensurate with candidate experience and location. Compensation for this position also includes up to a 20% bonus based on performance.
