Job Description Overview

The role of the Project System Specialist team is to provide the Commvault Professional Services management team, project managers and consultants with support on the delivery of services for a defined geography. 

The Project System Specialist team is responsible for the daily management of the project accounting system with respect to resources, bookings, revenue and reporting, as well as interfacing with other departments to ensure the flow of information and revenue recognition works efficiently.

The Project System Specialist reports directly to the Professional Services Operations Manager.

 

Position Responsibilities

·       Independently handles the processes and tasks leading up to month, quarter and year closure

·       Raises contractor POs and tracks usage

·       Provides service leaders with accurate data for revenue and cost forecasting

·       Acts as knowledge source for all project accounting system questions and trains new PS employees

·       Provides analysis of existing reports

·       Ensures existing processes are followed and highlights areas for improvement

·       Provides project managers with financial project information, system guidance and raises project profitability issues such as overspend, etc

·       Works with other members of the Professional Services Operations group and the Finance department to recognize and reconcile revenue on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

·       Ensures consultants use the project accounting system in accordance with internal processes

·       Assists internal and external audits with relevant information

·       Works with delivery partners, ensuring they adhere to Commvault processes and timelines

·       Works with the Business System Administration team on any project accounting system issues that need resolving

·       Has a solid understanding of general financial processes, especially in the area of services revenue and cost accounting

·       Good understanding of IT Services industry

·       Can set up, run and analyse ad hoc reports from various systems

·       Prior knowledge of accounting, reporting and/or project management systems with experience with Openair, Netsuite, Power BI advantageous

·       Advanced Excel skills

·       Good understanding of international accounting standards and process compliance

·       English written and verbal fluency is a must, plus excellent language skills in German and/or Spanish

·       Qualifications in accounting, finance, business, IT or project management OR equivalent experience

·       2-5 years in international fast paced environments
