Position Title: Construction Safety Specialist
Location: Sparks, NV
Industry: Data Center Construction
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead all on-site safety operations for a data center construction project in Sparks, Nevada. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations—including OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards—while aligning with client requirements and internal safety protocols.
Reporting directly to the HSE Program Manager, the Site HSE Manager will serve as the primary safety authority on site, overseeing hazard recognition, training, audits, and incident prevention activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and data center experience to ensure a proactive safety culture and continuous compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce OSHA, project-specific, and client safety standards across all phases of construction.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Lead site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training sessions.
- Manage and verify Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), PPE compliance, and emergency preparedness protocols.
- Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the on-site liaison between the safety department, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all safety-related activities, including audits, inspections, and training.
- Promote continuous improvement and drive a positive safety culture through daily engagement with field teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of safety experience in construction or industrial environments.
- Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction card.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the following areas:
- Fall Protection
- Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- Electrical Safety
- Ability to recognize workplace hazards and take immediate corrective actions.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage teams at all levels.
- Data center construction experience in a professional safety role is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHST.
- “Competent Person” training in areas such as fall protection, excavation, or electrical safety.
- Specialized training in LOTO, NFPA 70E (2021 or newer), or MEWP operations.
- Experience managing safety on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction sites for extended periods.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and wear full PPE as required.
- Capable of participating in emergency drills and conducting physical site inspections.
