Certified Industrial Hygienist
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist to assess workplace environments and identify health hazards such as chemical, physical, and biological risks. The ideal candidate will implement strategies to control or eliminate exposures, conduct monitoring and risk assessments, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and develop programs to promote employee health and safety. This role collaborates with leadership and employees to foster a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct industrial hygiene assessments including air monitoring, noise surveys, and exposure evaluations (chemical, biological, and physical hazards)
- Develop and implement exposure control strategies and engineering controls to mitigate risks
- Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, state/local requirements)
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for management
- Lead or support incident investigations related to occupational health exposures
- Design and deliver employee training on health and safety topics (e.g., respiratory protection, hazard communication)
- Manage and maintain industrial hygiene programs such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and chemical hygiene
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EHS, operations, and leadership to drive continuous improvement
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field
Certifications & Licensure:
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification required
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one).
Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience conducting industrial hygiene and safety evaluations
- Strong knowledge of occupation health regulations and standards
- Experience with sampling equipment and data interpretation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
Physical & Medical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically perform essential job duties, including walking, standing, climbing, and conducting field inspections in diverse environments.
