What You'll Do
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary safety resource for project teams and trade partners.
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections, safety observations, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and field engagement.
- Lead and support:
- Pre-Task Planning (PTPs)
- Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
- Permit-required work
- Incident investigations
- Facilitate new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and client safety requirements.
- Support high-risk work activities, including electrical safety, fall protection, confined space entry, crane operations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and hot work.
- Maintain accurate safety reports, inspections, and project documentation.
- Partner with project leadership to drive continuous safety improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience supporting active construction projects.
- Current OSHA 510 certification (Required).
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (completed within the past five years).
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
- Excellent hazard recognition, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, life sciences, industrial, manufacturing, or other highly regulated construction projects.
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification or experience working around hazardous materials.
- Candidates willing to complete the 40-Hour HAZWOPER course are encouraged to apply. CMI will cover the cost of the training.
- Experience with steel erection, modular construction, or other complex commercial construction projects.
- Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
Work Environment
This is a field-based position requiring daily presence on an active construction site. Responsibilities include standing, walking, climbing ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, navigating uneven terrain, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in varying weather conditions.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules based on project needs.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the project site.
