Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Locations: Sofia, Bulgaria

Reports to: Manager, Product Development

Here’s what we’re looking for…

• Design and develop full-stack solutions, building reusable backend services with Java 11+ and modern, responsive UIs using React for our cloud-native, microservices-based platform, with strong focus on scalability, performance, and usability;
• Collaborate with a talented international team of engineers, product managers, and designers to define system functionality and plan future Sprints;
• Partner with tech leads and architects to align implementations with industry best practices and company standards across both backend and frontend layers;
• Contribute to front-end architecture, state management, and component design, ensuring high-quality user experience;
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing across the full stack;
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in best practices, design decisions, and professional growth;
• Conduct technical research to solve complex problems and drive continuous improvement across backend and frontend technologies;
• Contribute to and maintain technical documentation;
• Develop unit, integration, and UI tests, and collaborate with QA to ensure end-to-end quality;
• Work closely with the DevOps/Cloud Services team to support deployments and troubleshoot production issues. 

Here’s what will give you an edge…

• 5+ years of experience developing large-scale, complex applications with Java (backend) and modern JavaScript frameworks (preferably React);
• Strong expertise in backend development (multi-threading, messaging, streaming, performance optimization, and horizontal scalability);
• Solid experience building REST APIs and integrating them with frontend applications;
• Proficiency in React, including hooks, state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or similar), and component-based architecture;
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript;
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases;
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and microservices architecture;
• Knowledge of frontend performance optimization and responsive design principles;
• Awareness of algorithmic complexity and Java data structures (time/space complexity);
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
• A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and work across the full technology stack.

Nice to Have (Advantage):

• University degree in Computer Science or a related field;
• Experience with cloud platforms (MS Azure or similar);
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel, etc.);
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban);
• Experience with BDD/TDD practices across backend and frontend;
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar;
• Working knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence;
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
• Exposure to UI/UX best practices and design systems.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve productivity, code quality, or development workflows.
• Experience with cloud platforms (MS Azure or similar);
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling (NPM, Webpack);
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban);
• Experience with BDD/TDD practices across backend and frontend;
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar;
• Working knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence;
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
• Exposure to UI/UX best practices and design systems;
• University degree in Computer Science or a related field;
