General Summary:
The Data Center Engineer is responsible for responding to scheduled and emergency dispatches, handling physical and logical aspects of data center operations, completing installations and replacements of hardware components, providing software support, managing shipping and receiving, and documenting work in the ticketing system.This role requires the ability to work independently, excellent customer service skills, experience with IT and networking systems, proficiency with technical tools, and strong troubleshooting abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to scheduled and emergency dispatches to Datacenter for off-hour service calls.
- Handles the physical and logical aspects of operating our own racks & power, networking, and servers.
- After-hours support for both scheduled maintenance and on-call for emergencies involving the data
center. - Complete physical installation and power-up of racks, servers and network equipment.
- Provide installation and replacement services for hot-swappable or modular hardware components, such
as hard drives and power supplies. - Provide software support such as requested system reboots, device configuration with direction and
support from other teams. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams with various requests.
- Handle shipping and receiving for the datacenter.
- Document work in designated ticketing system.
- May assist in training and/or leading new team colleagues.

- Ability to perform routine situations and procedures with limited supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong team player with ability to build positive and collaborative relationships within the ConnectWise
organization. - Experience with IT and networking systems - server rack and stack, network cable installation and
management of both fiber and copper. - Proficiency with technical tools such as PuTTY (for SSH & serial console access).
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision to complete assigned tasks in an asynchronous
time zone environment. - Demonstrated high standards for workmanship, organization, and cleanliness with tasks, equipment and
workspaces. - Demonstrated good troubleshooting skills to investigate and resolve system and infrastructure issues.
- Willing to respond to irregular off hour emergency calls and schedule off hour maintenance.
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
- Requires broad knowledge of job procedures and tools.
Working Conditions:
- Onsite/Hybrid/Remote must be located near facilities to respond within the hour.
- Physical work requirements will include regular walks through data center during the day, lifting servers and other equipment, working from ladders, running cables, and working with hand tools and test equipment.
