HPC Data Center Technician

The Job
The HPC Data Center Technician will monitor and manage power, cooling capacity and environmental conditions with the data center. This position will manage workflow for planned and unplanned data center work to ensure timely completion, along ensuring processes adhere to federal and local safety laws and policies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the daily operation of the data center from a service delivery perspective
- Work with Site Reliability Services team to deliver 100% uptime while minimizing risks.
- Monitor power, cooling capacity, and environmental conditions within the data center.
- Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)/Building Monitoring System (BMS) as a tool to monitor infrastructure health and planned and planned maintenance to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance of data center electrical and mechanical equipment and manage communication of such activity with internal and customer stakeholders.
- Assist with the development, revision, and execution of operating procedures and preventive maintenance inspections, and perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, and continual improvement. Resolve all electrical and mechanical issues within the data center quickly while minimizing risk and properly communicate issues to leadership.
- Respond to emergencies and critical issues as necessary (both independently and as a team), according to staffing and situation, towards complete recovery.
- Troubleshoot and document technical issues, escalate as appropriate, and ensure issue resolution.
- Assist and/or complete physical and logical installations.
- Maintain accurate facility data including rounds, PM work orders, change management, etc.
- Develop and/or Maintain documentation alongside operating procedures and facility data for the purpose of creating value-add metrics to both Core Scientific and our Customers
- Maintain strict adherence to change control activities.
- Work effectively with outside contractors, ensure they are abiding by critical facility work and safety rules.
- Complete facility rounds at the beginning of each shift to ensure data center and grounds upkeep.
- Participate in facility training/safety/compliance programs on a regular basis.
- Participate in construction and commissioning, as directed by the Core Scientific Construction team.
- Keep facility clean and free of debris, including overseeing property management such as janitorial services and landscaping.
- Adhere to federal and local safety laws and policies.
- Foster open, respectful and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/teammates and leaders across the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required.
- 1 year of experience working in data center environment required.
- Technical knowledge for various systems such as: electrical distribution, emergency/standby power, HVAC, fire, UPS systems, floor PDU’s, rack PDU’s, CRAH units and monitoring and control required.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and other standard software programs required.
- Prior technical school training, preferred.
- Experience working in mission critical environments, preferred.
- Experience with building electrical, mechanical, BMS and fire systems, preferred.
- Electrical or mechanical license (HVAC), preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.

Work Environment
This job operates in a data center environment. This role routinely uses standard data center equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones voltmeter’s, hash board testers, scissor lifts, forklifts, ladders, and screwdrivers etc. While performing these duties the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments.
Physical Demands
Able to meet physical requirements of the job, such as working on ladders, racking heavy servers (up to 50 lbs.), running cables, lifting miners, bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time, working in hot and cold environments etc.
