Intern – Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR)

Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. As a leader in muscle biology and the mechanics of muscle performance, the company is developing small molecule drug candidates specifically engineered to impact myocardial muscle function and contractility.

Internship Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern – Epidemiology to join our team. The intern will work on various epidemiology projects related to cardiovascular indications, with a focus on heart failure and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate-level student in epidemiology, public health, or a related field to gain hands-on experience in real-world epidemiological research within a dynamic biopharmaceutical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize epidemiological data related to heart failure, HCM, and other cardiovascular conditions.
  • Assist in analyzing real-world evidence (RWE) and epidemiological datasets to support disease burden assessments.
  • Support ongoing epidemiology projects by contributing to study design, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including HEOR, GVAD, Medical Affairs, and Clinical Development.
  • Assist in the development of abstracts, presentations, and reports for internal and external scientific communication.
  • Present findings to the Epidemiology team and broader stakeholders as part of the internship experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with experience in epidemiologic methods and study design.
  • Proficiency in literature reviews and working with epidemiological databases.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA, or Python) is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex data in an understandable manner.
  • Interest in cardiovascular epidemiology and real-world evidence generation.

Compensation: Paid internship (competitive stipend)

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.

Salary Pay Range

$22 - $45 USD
