We’re seeking a Software Virtualization Engineer who’s ready to build modern, virtualized solutions that enable critical missions at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

Your Impact:
As a Software Virtualization Engineer, you’ll help ensure mission-critical applications are optimized, scalable, and ready for both VDI and thick-client environments. Your work will directly impact how users across the agency access and interact with essential tools.
What You’ll Do:

Package, virtualize, and deliver mission applications with advanced functionality and graphics.

Collaborate with testers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate and fine-tune application behavior.

Persist user settings across sessions in non-persistent VDI environments.
-
Identify and implement automation opportunities in the application sequencing process.
-
Configure and support VDI and application delivery infrastructure.
-
Enhance disaster recovery and continuity of operations strategies.
-
Apply regular security patches and updates to keep environments compliant and secure.
-
Write and maintain technical documentation, operational guides, and training materials.
-
Work hands-on with VMware technologies and other virtualization tools to troubleshoot and optimize performance.

Analyze, design, and present virtualization solutions that evolve with mission needs.

Support software incident resolution and application request fulfillment.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of systems administration/virtualization experience
(Additional experience or certifications can substitute for degree) -
8140.01M IAT Level II certification
-
3+ years with VDI technologies (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps, Microsoft RDS)
-
2+ years with application virtualization tools like Citrix XenApp, App-V, App Volumes, or FlexApp
-
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
-
Deep knowledge of Windows 10/11 desktop and Windows Server (2012+)
-
PowerShell scripting and automation experience
-
Familiarity with non-persistent desktop environments and profile management (e.g., VMware DEM, Profile-Unity)

Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy

Understanding of ITIL principles and architectural frameworks like TOGAF
-
Exposure to load balancing and application delivery services
-
VMware certification (e.g., VCA-DCV)
-
Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Service+, ServiceNow, Remedy)
