About the Opportunity:
Registrar | $65,000-75,000
David Zwirner is in search of a Registrar to work within our Registration team. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher and have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a related function. The role demands someone adept at coordinating logistics, overseeing documentation, and ensuring the seamless movement of artworks while upholding the highest industry standards.
What you’ll do:
- Work with the Inventory Manager to ensure smooth workflows and communication for logistics between various gallery locations, including management of projects on a digital task management system.
- Manage and oversee framing:
- Act as the main point of contact for framing, provide regular updates on status, and address any concerns or inquiries.
- Coordinate with clients, artists, and internal teams to determine framing specs and needs.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and remain up to date on industry standards.
- Provide cost estimates and quotes to clients and Sales.
- Manage project budgets and track expenses.
- Conduct inspections to guarantee finished products meet established standards.
- Manage gallery sprinter schedule for local collections and deliveries and associated paperwork.
- Oversee packing and crating to guarantee the safe transit of artworks; assist with coordination of movement between storage and gallery locations.
- Exhibition logistics management: coordinate artwork movement and packing logistics related to installation needs.
- Assist with processing artwork upon receipt: regularly update cataloging records and ensure accuracy and completeness of art inventory database and record keeping.
- Conduct incoming and outgoing condition inspections and process artwork upon arrival.
- Coordinate and oversee domestic shipments, as requested.
- Compile, process, and manage records of all associated shipping paperwork in accordance with New York State Sales Tax requirements.
- Produce NYACALs as needed.
What we would like you to have:
- BA (Art History, Administration, Studio Arts preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position in the field of contemporary art.
- Focused, reliable, and exacting attention to detail.
- Must be able to work with team members at all levels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-departmentally.
- Familiarity with various mediums of artwork; working knowledge of conservation techniques is a plus.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects at once.
