Technical Program Manager, AI Studio

New York City, New York, US

Snapshot

The Technical Program Management team at Google DeepMind organizes and enables our research, engineering and product teams to make fast-paced progress toward our mission. AI Studio has established itself as the fastest path to shipping to external developers. We are looking for a high-impact Technical Program Manager based in NYC to lead the frontend initiatives that define how developers interact with our most advanced models and create their own products based on Google DeepMind models.

About Us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, program managers and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

AI Studio is a distributed team across London, Zurich, Mountain View, Seattle, and New York. Our mission is to bring the best of Gemini models to the developer community. We build the interfaces and developer experiences—including experimental "vibe coding" workflows—that enable developers to create apps in a few minutes and with little knowledge on our infrastructure.

The Role

As a TPM for AI Studio, you won't just track tasks; you will run initiatives. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can read between the lines, plug into different parts of the organization, and maintain momentum across multiple complex threads. You will be the glue between Marketing, Product, Legal and Engineering, ensuring that we aren't just "checking boxes" but delivering world-class end products.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive multi-threaded Initiatives: Simultaneously manage high-priority workstreams, from experimental "vibe coding" features to large-scale model launches requiring complex frontend feature work as well as be comfortable with rapid prototyping and creative real-time solutions.
  • Keeping the pulse on execution management to surface risks and blockers promptly
  • Lead Logistics & Execution: Sort out the "how" of delivery. You will own the logistics of project planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Coordinate across various teams (API, underlying tech stack, etc) and functions (PMs, UX, marketing, etc)
  • Filter & Prioritize: Demonstrate high judgment in distinguishing between "true fires" and "noise" to keep the team focused on the highest-impact goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Constantly evaluate the team's health and efficiency. You should understand the ripple effects of a change in the team or process and proactively optimize how we ship.
  • Technical Influence: Don't just sit on the sidelines. Insert yourself into technical discussions, challenge the status quo, partner with and earn the buy-in of senior engineers to move the platform forward.
  • You will work with a team of TPMs based across our key locations (Zurich, London, NYC and Mountain View). While each TPMs have a well defined area, you will work as a team to bridge gaps and connect the various areas of Gemini API and AI Studio to deliver awesome functionalities and models every week.

About You

To thrive in this role, you must be a practitioner who leads by doing. We are looking for the following:

  • Hands-on Leadership: You have a proven track record of driving technical programs from the trenches. You are comfortable jumping into the details of a launch or a technical blocker.
  • Delivery Focused: You are an anti-pattern to the "checkbox" TPM. You care about the end goal and are willing to challenge processes that hinder progress.
  • Technical Depth: Experience in "vibe coding" or interactive developer environments.
  • Ambiguity Navigator: You thrive in fast-paced environments where the roadmap can shift. You can "read between the lines" to identify what a project actually needs to succeed.
  • Exceptional Communication: You can translate deep technical constraints into clear updates for stakeholders, while building rapport to influence the engineering team’s direction.
  • Problem Solver: You are a natural at identifying root causes and implementing elegant, scalable solutions to operational bottlenecks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep interest in the user-facing applications.
  • A passion for Generative AI and a commitment to learning the evolving landscape of GenAI
  • Background in engineering

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $183,000 - $271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
