Job Description

We are currently seeking an Associate Director and Partner to join and lead our growing consulting team in North America.

DA Associate Directors are senior professional services leaders, simultaneously leading multiple projects, shaping the work we do, and driving end-to-end account ownership. They are responsible for maintaining and growing senior relationships in the government, non-profit, and philanthropy sectors while directing and mentoring Project Leaders and teams across the region.

In this role, you’ll work across a range of contexts - directly with community-based organizations and within their local ecosystems, as well in collaboration with place-based partners, governments, and philanthropy leaders driving economic mobility outcomes, partnering with them to design, shape, and scope impactful initiatives and interventions. You’ll support programs, policies, and initiatives that span cradle-to-career outcomes for children and families facing economic distress, as well as aim to improve other enabling environmental factors, such as affordable housing, transportation, built environment, and public safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct project teams: Organize teams and mentor Project Leaders and Senior Project Leaders as they delegate tasks to ensure efficient project execution, fostering a healthy teaming culture.
  • Lead critical problem solving sessions: Guide colleagues and partners in breaking down issues to identify root causes and develop solutions, particularly at critical points in the project lifecyle.
  • Own stakeholder accounts and key relationships: Build and develop our relationships with existing and prospective client partners, including government and philanthropy leaders.
  • Facilitate collaboratives: Lead effective meetings and workshops that drive forward problem-solving and consensus.
  • Navigate complex engagements: Direct multi-stakeholder engagements in complex environments with curiosity, empathy, and the ability to influence partner teams through our DA project leads for collective progress.
  • Lead practice and domain development: Own and co-lead internal initiatives and contribute to the organization and the growth of our work in Economic Mobility, as well as advance our subject matter expertise and internal IP within and across our practices.

Core Competencies
We work well with people who demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Communication: ability to lead formative discussions, produce high-quality materials, and tailor messaging effectively.
  • Teamwork: efficient collaboration and delegation, while fostering an inclusive teaming environment.
  • Problem solving: robust and holistic solution development approach, adapting for risks and opportunities even in the face of ambiguity.
  • Results orientation: an owner mentality, driving project success and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Building DA: a commitment to growing and developing the firm, including business development, recruiting, IP development and living our values.

  • Analytical: Skilled in dissecting and solving complex problems.
  • Accountable: Self-sufficient and reliable in a remote work setting.

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred (e.g. Public Policy, Economic Development, Education). Requisite years of professional experience and/or apprenticeship pathways will also be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Professional experience: A minimum of 12 years of relevant and full-time work experience in consulting, other professional services, or as a senior manager in government and public sector delivery.
  • Team leadership: Proven track record leading/managing teams of early-to-mid career-level contributors in a professional services or project-based context.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
