Role Overview

We are looking for a Marketing Operations Manager (Contract) to support the execution, documentation, and operationalisation of marketing operations across multiple platforms, systems, and teams.

This role blends hands-on delivery, system architecture, governance, and lifecycle automation.

The ideal candidate naturally thinks in terms of customer signals, lifecycle orchestration, scalable system design, and automation opportunities, while maintaining strong discipline around data integrity, lifecycle consistency, and operational governance.

This is not a campaign execution role and not a single-platform administrator role. It is an operations role focused on how marketing systems, product signals, automation, and workflows work together at scale to support acquisition, lifecycle engagement, pipeline creation, and customer expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Operations Delivery

  • Execute marketing operations work across multiple platforms, workflows, and processes.
  • Translate defined requirements into practical, working operational setups.
  • Ensure initiatives are operationally ready, consistent, and scalable.
  • Own follow-through and closure on marketing operations work across teams.
  • Support lifecycle engagement programs that respond to marketing activity, product usage signals, and customer engagement behavior.

Discovery & Documentation

  • Conduct structured discovery across marketing workflows, systems, and handoffs.
  • Document:
    • current-state processes
    • system boundaries and data flows
    • dependencies, risks, and ownership gaps
  • Maintain clear, structured documentation that enables scale, alignment, and decision-making.
  • Ensure marketing operations knowledge and architecture are documented in a way that supports long-term operational continuity.

System Architecture & Automation

  • Lead or materially contribute to lifecycle orchestration and marketing automation implementations, including lifecycle configuration, automation design, data model alignment, and CRM integration.
  • Support the design and documentation of marketing operations architecture spanning:
    • lifecycle orchestration platforms
    • marketing automation systems
    • product event data sources
    • enrichment and data tooling
    • CRM and customer data platforms
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate manual work through thoughtful automation.
  • Design scalable automation patterns that improve efficiency without introducing system fragmentation.
  • Ensure automation logic is documented, governed, and aligned with agreed operating principles.

Governance & Operational Integrity

  • Apply and uphold marketing operations standards across platforms.
  • Ensure consistency in lifecycle logic, data models, and workflow design.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to duplication, uncontrolled changes, or tool sprawl.
  • Push back or escalate when architecture, lifecycle logic, or data integrity is at risk.
  • Maintain operational discipline across lifecycle management and system integrations.

AI-Enabled Operational Thinking

  • Apply AI-assisted tools pragmatically to improve operational efficiency, documentation, and workflow design.
  • Partner effectively with engineering, data, or AI teams when AI-enabled capabilities intersect with marketing systems.
  • Evaluate where AI-driven automation adds value versus where deterministic or rules-based approaches are more appropriate.
  • Ensure AI-enabled workflows remain governed, explainable, and aligned with operational standards.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Work closely with marketing, operations, engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Coordinate dependencies and unblock execution across functions.
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across GTM and product teams.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous, evolving environments typical of high-growth companies.

  • Campaign strategy or campaign execution
  • Copywriting or creative production
  • Channel ownership or performance targets
  • Customer experience (CX) tool ownership

Required Experience & Skills

Essential

  • 4–8+ years of experience in Marketing Operations, Revenue Operations, Growth Operations, or a related operations role.
  • Proven experience implementing or significantly configuring marketing automation or lifecycle orchestration platforms such as HubSpot, Marketo, Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or similar.
  • Experience working alongside CRM systems or custom customer platforms.
  • Experience integrating marketing systems with product event data or behavioral signals.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing automation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong systems-thinking mindset with a focus on optimisation, automation, and scalability.
  • Proven ability to document processes, systems, and data flows clearly.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Desirable

  • Experience leading or owning marketing automation platform implementations, migrations, or re-architecture projects.
  • Exposure to lifecycle marketing frameworks, growth experimentation, or product-led growth environments.
  • Experience designing operational governance frameworks or marketing operations standards.
  • Experience working with AI-enabled tools or agentic platforms in an operational context.
  • Demonstrated examples of leveraging AI responsibly to streamline workflows, automate repetitive processes, or improve operational decision-making.
