POSITION OVERVIEW:
As we prepare for our inaugural commercial launch, we seek a seasoned Vice President of Sales to build a high-performing sales organization and drive market adoption of our groundbreaking therapy, bitopertin.
Reporting to our Chief Commercial Officer, the Vice President of Sales will be instrumental in shaping and executing our go-to-market strategy, establishing a robust sales infrastructure, and leading a dedicated team to achieve commercial success. This role requires a strategic visionary with deep expertise in rare diseases, a proven track record in startup environments, and a passion for transforming patient care. The leader will have a proven track record in motivating teams to deliver exceptional performance at product launch. Preferred candidates will be based on the US east coast.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with corporate objectives, focusing on physician adoption and patient outcomes.
- Deliver timely regional business plans that clearly demonstrate how to achieve sales objectives at geographies.
- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders, hematology centers, dermatologists and other stakeholders to drive product adoption.
- Oversee the execution of pre-launch and launch activities, ensuring alignment across sales, marketing, medical affairs, and market access functions.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular reporting and analysis to senior leadership.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of sales strategies with broader organizational goals and contribute to design of IC plans to ensure maximum engagement and motivation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in sales leadership within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on rare diseases. Experience with hematology and/or dermatology is preferred.
- Proven experience in building and leading sales teams in preparation for inaugural product launches. Demonstrated exceeding sales results on multiple occasions and has a strong coaching record.
- Demonstrated success in startup or early-stage biotech environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
- Strong understanding of patient support programs, reimbursement, and payer dynamics in the rare disease space.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Willingness to travel regularly to support sales activities and team , with majority of time spent with the team and customers, while maintaining a strong connection to the home office.
