Overview

DLH is seeking an eLearning Training Developer with graphic design capabilities who will be responsible for the design and creation of an HIV Cure Research Capacity Building Training Toolkit at the direction of the leadership of the ACTG Clinical Trials Network (Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV and Other Infections). ACTG is one of the oldest and largest networks focused on curing HIV and other emerging infectious diseases. The eLearning Training Developer will work closely with the project’s Clinical Research Associate (CRA), who is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of tasks associated with the HIV Cure Research Capacity Building project. Content will be informed by input from scientific subject matter experts. The eLearning Training Developer will create multiple interactive videos, make decisions in collaboration with the CRA and other project team members, and propose solutions to challenges as they arise to ensure the project's success.

Responsibilities 

  • Converts written materials and storyboards into interactive training modules for the training toolkit
  • Develops and creates aesthetics and visual design to support the training toolkit, which includes complex scientific topics
  • Determines video layout options for moderately complex projects by interfacing with technical writers; determines the graphic design and eLearning training production elements for each item of a product
  • Plans analyzes, and creates original visual solutions for the project
  • Identifies the most effective way to get messages across in print and electronic media using color, type, illustration, graphic design, animation, eLearning videos, and various layout techniques
  • Develops the overall layout and production design of the project’s deliverables
  • Gathers relevant information for the project by meeting with internal team members, and external stakeholders, and by performing own research
  • Evaluate materials during development for instruction alignment and appropriate styles, standards, and specifications
  • Manages two or more task projects at any given time
  • Communicates effectively and continuously with project leadership and others to coordinate and facilitate project business, proactively anticipating and identifying issues and problems, developing and suggesting effective strategies, facilitating resolutions, and instituting preventive/corrective action where appropriate
  • Creates necessary deliverables for timely distribution to the project team
  • Informs the supervisor of complex issues and any related preventive/corrective action and identifies concerns of internal project staff and external clients that may need to be shared with project leadership. Analyzes alternatives and develops solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. Applies ever-increasing knowledge to address complexities of the environment and to lead improvement initiatives.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Suggests alternative approaches that are practical and consistent with operational objectives. escalates issues with suggestions for further investigation and options for consideration
  • Contributes to the completion of specific projects and programs. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Works with little direction. Independently determines and develops approaches to a wide range of difficult problems. Work may be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
  • Regular contact with outside organizations and individuals of significance within the company. Contacts involve planning and preparation of communications and require tact and persuasion. Represents specific projects and provides solutions to difficult technical issues.
  • Ensures work meets quality standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in eLearning, instructional design, or multimedia design or equivalent + 5 years of instruction development experience (Required)
  • Master’s degree with an emphasis in eLearning, instructional design, or multimedia design + 3 years of instruction development experience (Preferred)
  • 1 – 2 years of professional experience with clinical research (Preferred)
  • Candidates advancing to the next stage of the hiring process will be asked to submit a sample training video showcasing their instructional design skills. Details and guidelines for the submission will be provided upon further consideration.
  • Experience applying expertise in graphic design principles and practices to eLearning video development
  • Demonstrate superior decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills; exhibit competency to contribute constructively to higher-level decisions that may have a consequential effect on the Project
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Works well as part of a team and individually under minimal supervision; communicates effectively with fellow staff members and clients; exhibits a high degree of flexibility, organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management.
  • Creative thinking and design skills

Basic Compensation: $88,500 - $100,000 yearly salary

The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates’ skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards, including performance incentives and program-specific awards.  An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
