Echodyne is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Technician for the Weekend / Swing Shift – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday (1:00pm-9:00pm)*

*Initial training will be conducted Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for approximately three weeks, or until proficiency and independent performance are achieved.

This role is responsible for ensuring that incoming parts and materials meet the company's quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in quality inspection, knowledge of industry regulations, and expertise in using precision measuring tools and techniques. This position plays a key role in maintaining supplier quality and compliance while improving internal processes. This role also assists in the management, assessment, disposition, and documentation of nonconforming material from Receiving Inspection. A clear and concise disposition of affected material is documented in Echodyne’s Product Lifecycle Management system.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Apply inspection techniques using a variety of hand inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, ring gauges and programable test equipment such as an OGP Smartscope
  • Initiate, investigate and resolve nonconformances and maintain appropriate records as needed
  • Proficient in knowledge of IPC standards
  • Ensure proper material identification, segregation and storage of inventory material
  • Must be proficient in all areas of Inspection (Receiving Inspection, FAI, PCB/PCBA, Mechanical, Cable, Cosmetics and Final Inspection)
  • Works closely with members of Manufacturing, Distribution, Engineering, and Quality to ensure good communication and coordination of activities
  • Coordinate Calibration activities to ensure test and applicable design equipment is calibrated per procedure
  • Assist in evaluation of inspection methods/fixtures and provide improvement recommendations in conjunction with Engineering and Quality Engineering
  • Responsible for evaluating and defining inspection processes for incoming inspection as well as production operations in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering.
  • Responsible for Key Performance Indicators and Metrics for Incoming Quality Assurance and Material Review Board
  • Maintains current education in the field with internal and external education and training
  • Assists with Quality System Audits
  • Support and mentor junior inspectors and provide guidance on inspection techniques and quality standards
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

BASIC PROFICIENCIES:

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision during weekend hours
  • Experience working within a Quality Management System environment
  • Extensive experience with PCBs and PCBAs and be able to assist with technical reviews with suppliers, Quality Engineers and Design Engineers
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
  • Ability to work with minor guidance and under pressure
  • Knowledge of specification development, industry standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), etc
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver innovative, effective and timely solutions

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE 
(Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills)
 

  • Programming of a multisensor measurement system experience, particularly with OGP products
  • Proactive, professional, self-starter and able to work well in teams of various cultures and backgrounds
  • Proficient with Mechanical and Test Equipment (M&TE); calipers, micrometers, comparator, digital microscopes, Go/No-go gages, and Digital Multimeter
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician
  • IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified
  • Familiar with Society of Plastic Industry (SPI) Cosmetic Specifications
  • Lean Manufacturing: Kaizen and 6S experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical/electrical inspection or direct relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent prior experience in a high-tech environment
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; Word and Excel
  • Able to collect, analyze and report data
  • Self-Driven and able to work with limited supervision

The pay range for this position is $32.30 - $48.41 per hour.
