JOB OVERVIEW:

We’re seeking an experienced full-time Risk Control & Safety Consultant to join our Risk Control and Safety Team.  This person will be responsible for providing consultations to manufacturing and industrial processing clients mainly in the Southeast or Northeast United States (U.S.), but may also travel throughout the United States or internationally. This role provides clients with strategic safety leadership and assists with implementing and carrying out best practices for clients to meet or exceed industry safety standards. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Someone with extensive environmental, health & safety experience (at least 10+ years) in implementing, advising & overseeing health & safety programs, preferably for heavy industry and manufacturing industries.
  • Strongly preferred: A professional safety certification in CSP, CIH, ARM, CDS, CECM, or CIHM.
  • Previous consulting or insurance industry experience is not required; this is a great opportunity for candidates wanting to get out of the day-to-day EHS tasks and instead use their skills and experience to help and advise various clients from a variety of industries throughout the U.S.
  • Candidates comfortable with Travel: We try to assign employees to clients with facilities in the same geographic area of the U.S. as the employee lives (such as the northeast, or southeast), however sometimes travel will be required outside of the designated geographic area. Typical travel is about 50% - travel will be a mix of flying & driving, depending upon client needs.
  • Candidate Location: Candidates for this role must live in the state of Georgia, OR the Northeast (such as NJ, NY, or PA) and will be assigned primarily to the Southeast or Northeast region of the U.S. Candidates will preferably live near one of our EPIC Office Locations, but after training and onboarding is complete, most of the work will be carried out at client facilities or from the employee’s home.   • Bilingual in Spanish & English is preferred but not required.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

A detailed list of job duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Complete safety surveys to ensure clients’ compliance with governmental safety regulations (DOL - OSHA/MSHA, DOT – FMCSA, Basic EPA rules), Life safety codes (NFPA), and sound safety principles.
  • Provide compliance and safety consulting services to clients engaged in a variety of industries, but especially in manufacturing and heavy industrial.
  • Analyze client claims experience and accident/incident data (Workers Comp losses, OSHA Citation history, Auto Claims, roadside inspections, moving violations) to determine trends and develop/recommend control programs to minimize losses.
  • Develop safety service strategies for risk control programs.
  • Monitor account safety services to ensure that delivery is proper, on time, and cost effective.
  • Assist clients with governmental safety agency inspections, accident investigations, and recordkeeping efforts (including but not limited to OSHA, MSHA, and DOT). Maintain client files for auditing purposes.
  • Train client management teams and employees/drivers in compliance and safety practices.
  • Assist clients in writing, developing and implementing effective Safety Programs and SOP's.
  • Develop and implement training programs to client management teams and employees or drivers.
  • Monitor account safety services to ensure that delivery is appropriate, on time and cost effective.
  • Coordinate client activities and needs with other EPIC departments, as needed, to ensure all of clients’ risk and insurance needs are properly being met.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the Field of Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene or Risk Management (a Masters Degree in similar field is preferred).
  • Required: A professional certification (CSP, CIH, ARM, CDS, CECM, CIHM) or other designations (ARM, CDS, CECM, CIHM, etc.).
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety role.
  • Proficient knowledge of effective safety management principles for multi-site corporations in the heavy manufacturing and distribution industries is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% to meet work demands. Travel by Air is expected 25-50% of travel time. Short-notice travel regularly occurs 5-10% of the travel expectations.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA codes is expected. Basic knowledge of FMCSA, MSHA, NFPA, EPA codes and their application is expected.
  • Must be well organized and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver timely and accurate work products with customer service focus, and respond with a sense of urgency.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to provide effective training presentations to audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships and resolve complex problems.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows-based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Data analysis proficiency is expected.
  • Sound work ethic and the ability to work with limited supervision.

 

COMPENSATION:

The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
