What you will do:
As a Technician II-Analytical Chemistry, on the Analytical Chemistry team, you will focus on supporting analysis of metals and geological materials with sample digestions and dilutions. This position may also provide analysis of elemental components like carbon, sulfur, oxygen and nitrogen in solids and solutions to support our R&D and engineering teams. This is an on-site position in Boulder, CO.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the analytical team with sample preparation and dilutions as needed
- Perform general laboratory operations such as inventory, maintaining a safe working environment, clean-up, etc.
- Perform routine chemical analysis using standardized methods and procedures in the turnaround required
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment as needed
- Summarize sample results clearly and concisely to other team members
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team (required):
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow guided, documented processes
- Knowledge of basic laboratory chemistry principles, particularly handling of strong acids and bases
- Hands-on experience with balances, single-channel pipettes, and sample digestions (microwave, hot block, or fusions) for ICP-OES/ICP-MS analysis
- Familiarity with EPA, ASTM, or ISO methodologies
- Ability to work on moderately difficult, semi-routine assignments, applying defined procedures and using judgment based on prior experience
- Capable of working independently, requiring instruction only for new assignments
- Understands the impact of work on the immediate team and service level requirements; demonstrates cost awareness
- Interacts professionally with individuals inside and outside the immediate team, requiring customer service skills, tact, and common courtesy
- Contributes to team and organizational goals through consistent performance in own work area
- Communicates and exchanges technical information with colleagues, clients, or customers in a clear and professional manner
What we want you to bring to the team (preferred):
- High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as ICP-OES, Leco C/S, XRD, XRF, or UV/Vis Spectroscopy
- Preferred experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work on moderately difficult assignments, guided by documented processes but capable of adapting solutions to related problems
- Uses fact-finding and problem-solving skills to evaluate issues that are varied but generally similar in nature
- Works independently on daily assignments, with general instructions for new tasks; accountable for the quality and timeliness of deliverables
- May provide knowledge-sharing and training support to new team member
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $24-$26 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
