Maintenance & Reliability Intern

Position & Project Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Maintenance and Reliability Intern to join our team in Raleigh, NC. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, this internship focuses on utilizing our existing controls and data systems to develop early warning triggers for conveyor systems throughout our manufacturing facilities. The objective is to establish alarm and action limits that will alert our manufacturing teams to emerging equipment issues before they escalate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze historical data from conveyor systems to identify patterns and potential indicators of equipment failure.
  • Utilize statistical methods and software tools to process and interpret control data.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to design and implement early warning triggers for conveyor systems.
  • Develop and test algorithms that can detect anomalies and predict potential issues based on data trends.
  • Define and calibrate alarm thresholds and action limits that will notify teams of developing problems.
  • Work on integrating these limits into the existing control systems and ensure proper functionality.
  • Create detailed documentation of the methodologies used, the development process, and the results obtained.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management and technical teams to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Work closely with engineers, data scientists, and manufacturing personnel to understand the practical aspects of conveyor operations.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions regarding system improvements and data-driven strategies.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing processes and propose innovative solutions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and refining the early warning system based on real-world performance and feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8. 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and statistical methods. 
  • Familiarity with control systems, sensors, and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Python, MATLAB) and control system platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
