Product Quality Manager

 

Position Overview 

The Product Quality Manager will be responsible for all quality assurance and quality control operations and will help establish and implement the quality strategy and Quality Management System. This will include the development and implementation of corporate SOPs supporting product testing, inspection, and release. This person shall provide functional leadership and technical oversight across multiple quality functions to ensure Face Reality maintains our high standards of regulatory compliance related to commercial product release of cosmetics and over the counter drug products.  This role provides support to the Product Development team which includes but is not limited to organizing QA/QC meetings prep and set up, batch testing and evaluating, managing quality manual, managing regulatory compliance within the company procedure and FDA regarding MoCRA and OTC registration. The Product Quality Manager will report into the R&D Technical Director. This is a hybrid position where you will work on-site in Danville Tuesdays -Thursdays and remotely Mondays and Fridays.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Quality and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Manage the quality and regulatory compliance, including necessary documents and master documents and support PD team
    • Collect, prepare, and organize Ingredient Documentation and Formula Safety Testing Documentation in preparation for quality and master product files
    • Compile testing for evidence-based substantiation for claims and educational training and organize them into master files as support documentation
    • Manage the process in conducting stability tests and other testing with third party labs and contract manufacturers keeping track and alignment of testing and budgets, assist in meetings, and collaborate on new products in development keeping track of notes and samples
    • Ensure that all required regulatory filings and forms are completed and filed on a timely basis and that the company maintains regulatory compliance with FDA
    • Lead and manage the process of SAE by working with the Customer Service team including pulling and tracking monthly quality reports and escalating any issues as needed
    • Develop and maintain necessary SOPs for the company’s procedures and processes
    • Work alongside the Technical Director to stay up to date with International Standard and Cosmetic Regulations, including FDA, EU, and other relevant agencies
    • Prepare and submit regulatory documents and dossiers for product registrations and approvals
    • Collaborate with the Technical Director in evaluating raw materials and assessing their safety and suitability for use in cosmetics and continuing education
  • Support Development, Evaluation, and Quality:

    • Receive and evaluate samples and log them into the system, store them properly, and organize storage area so samples are easy to find
    • Assist PD team in product evaluation, quality issues, and testing
    • Organize product development samples and quality program retains
    • Participate in investigations and resolutions of any regulatory or compliance-related issues
    • Provide support and assistance to PD team on development, quality or regulatory matters as needed
    • Help with specification packaging and product
    • Prepare and execute audits with contract manufacturers and verify vendor qualifications to include occasional travel
    • Monitor quality agreement and process involving in Quality Manual
  • Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support to achieve team and personal goals
    • Foster a collaborative team environment
    • Ensure strong primary and cross-functional team synergy

 

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Preferred minimum of 5 years related industry experience
  • This technical management position requires a high degree of quality operations expertise and working knowledge of FDA GMP regulations and cosmetic guidelines
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes quickly, excellent attention to detail and thriving in an ambiguous environment are all keys for success in this role
  • Experience working in FDA and DEA regulated environment
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal, reasoning, and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, task-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change and ambiguity as needed, ability to work in team setting
  • Curious nature, passion, and love for cosmetics/skincare

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk and bend for extended periods
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Comfortable lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment and materials
  • Comfortable using a computer, keyboard, and mouse

Salary: $101k - 120k per year plus yearly bonus and full benefits
