Job Title: General Manager

Position Overview:

The General Manager (“GM”) of FalconX Limited (“Company”) will principally be responsible for the general management, day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the Company. 

In this respect, the GM shall, among other matters, be responsible for the matters set out below:

  • managing financial budgets, developing strategic plans and communicating business goals of the Company;
  • managing sales for institutional portfolios/clients.
  • evaluating and/or reporting on the overall financial performance of the Company;
  • preparing written reports for the Board of Directors and Senior Management on different aspects of the Company as necessary from time to time;
  • ensuring that the internal policies and procedures of the Company are kept up-to-date in line with the applicable legal and regulatory framework;
  • assisting (first-line) senior managers to achieve their goals;
  • improving internal processes for better productivity;
  • overseeing the professional development and training of employees of the Company;
  • overseeing the delegation of the outsourced services by the Company to group entities and third party entities (including responsibility for ongoing assessments);
  • developing new solutions to meet client needs, together with appropriate personnel at the Company;
  • liaising with the Malta Financial Services Authority and other competent/ governmental authorities in Malta; and
  • remaining up-to-date with regulatory developments at both a European and local level.

Routine Tasks:

The below are the tasks which the current GM tackles on a routine basis (in no particular order):

  • reports to the Malta Board of Directors on KPIs from a financial performance perspective, capital requirements matters and organisational matters, etc;
  • member of the Malta Markets & Credit Risk Committee, and presents KPIs on financial performance and capital requirements matters;
  • oversees the outsourcing agreement between Limited and WarpDrive, including any changes to the agreement (mostly due to Financial Statements Audit process), testing of service level agreements, and keeping updated registers to comply with MFSA rules (which now are transitioning to the DORA rules);
  • authorised signatory on each FalconX Ltd contract - this was mainly introduced so that as a GM she is aware of the agreements which are being entered into with vendors, counterparties and clients in order to a) ensure that appropriate records are kept, b) ensure that there is alignment with regulatory obligations, c) ensure that what is being contracted is in line with the regulatory and licensing obligations, and d) ensure that clients are effectively onboarded to FalconX Ltd post the proper KYC process; 
  • Coordinates the annual update of the Wind-down Plan, including the updates of the financial projections, stress testing and trigger events (also with the assistance of Finance & Risk); monitors the trigger events and reports such to the Board. If a trigger event is breached, initiates the coordination of the wind-down plan;
  • chairperson of the Malta EDD committee and approves clients which are onboarded to Limited and classified as low and medium (following the review of the L2 Malta Compliance Team);
  • coordinates with the Internal Audit team (which is outsourced to PwC Malta) any audit assignments being carried out, ensuring that meetings are conducted with the correct stakeholders, following on submissions and ensuring that feedback provided both to the auditors and by the auditors. Once the report is issued, the GM follows the audit findings until completion;
  • coordinates with the IT auditors (BDO) and the internal Security team, the annual IT audit (which is a regulatory requirement). She ensures that meetings are conducted with the correct stakeholders, following on submissions and ensuring that feedback is provided both to the auditors and by the auditors. Once the report is issued, the GM follows the audit findings until completion;
  • coordinate the quarterly MFSA VFASP returns, ensuring that:
    • all stakeholders are informed of the timelines for submissions
    • receives the data from finance, security, custody, compliance
    • challenges figures from a financial perspective, from a business model perspective and consistency 
    • obtains approvals from the Board of Directors and answers any queries 
    • coordinates the submissions to the MFSA
    • answers and coordinates any feedback from the MFSA
  • Coordinates tax matters and government rebates;
  • Coordinates the filing of returns to the Malta Business Registry
  • Discusses with the MFSA any capital contributions, and executes any tasks ancillary to the matter
  • Committee member at the Malta Chamber of Commerce on crypto matters
  • other administrative matters:
    • coordinates the Malta Board of Directors, setting agendas and coordinating logistics;
    • pays bills (office lease, insurance, consultants, lawyers etc);
