Director, Investment Solutions

Hybrid - New York, NY

Company Description

Farther is a rapidly growing RIA that combines expert advisors with cutting-edge technology - delivering a comprehensive, tailored wealth management experience.

Farther’s founders are leaders and innovators from the private wealth industry who possess a unique blend of traditional wealth management, fintech, and technology production expertise. We’re backed by top-tier venture capital firms, fintech investors, and industry leaders.

Joining Farther means joining a collaborative team of entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping their clients and our teammates achieve more. If you’re the type who breaks through walls to get things done the right way, we want to build the future of wealth management with you.

The Role

The Director, Investment Solutions serves as the primary bridge between Farther’s internal asset manager, Farther Asset Management (FAM), and Farther Advisors. This individual is responsible for ensuring that advisors have the intellectual capital, investment tools, and analytical support required to build robust practices and deliver unrivaled service to clients.

This is a strategic leadership role where 50%+ of your time focuses on organizational improvement and transformation, driving initiatives like Investment Committee structure, Investment Philosophy/Policy Statement (IPS) development, and vendor evaluation frameworks — rather than day-to-day advisor support and proposal execution.

Your Impact

  • Lead high-impact initiatives including standardized IPS framework and ensuring all proposals align with fiduciary standards and risk tolerance requirements, and vendor management infrastructure.
  • Assist in the management and streamlining of the existing portfolio analysis and book review process for new clients and advisors.
  • Drive stalled organizational initiatives across project timelines, stakeholder alignment, and execution — ensuring critical programs move from concept to completion.
  • Join prospect meetings as a senior investment resource to sharpen the firm’s investment story and increase close ratios through expert communication of value propositions.
  • Develop and maintain a vetted directory of third-party providers (asset managers, tax, estate, concierge services), acting as liaison between advisors and external partners. Build evaluation criteria, centralize due diligence, and ensure regular assessment of all external relationships.
  • Serve as a representative of Farther Advisors to Farther Asset Management (FAM), leveraging advisor and client feedback to guide the development of new products and services.
  • Manage and develop team members within the Investment Solutions function, providing coaching, guidance, and growth opportunities as the team scales.
  • Collaborate with marketing, technology, and compliance to ensure investment information is disseminated in a professional, timely, and brand-consistent manner.
  • Provide thought leadership and training to help newer advisors articulate the firm’s investment philosophy and navigate common client objections.
  • Present the firm’s tactical and strategic asset allocation recommendations and risk frameworks to both internal and external audiences.

The Ideal Match

  • CFA or CAIA designation, with an MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Extensive experience as a client-facing portfolio manager or advisor within RIAs, private banks, or multi-family offices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing people, with the ability to coach, motivate, and grow a team in a fast-moving environment.
  • Significant experience with SEC Marketing rules and performance presentation standards.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational initiatives from inception to completion, including managing across stakeholders and re-energizing stalled programs.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into client-ready insights.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the agility to adapt solutions to the needs of a fast-paced, results-driven organization.
  • A demonstrated ability to respectfully challenge the status quo and lead organizational change.

Bonus Points

  • Experience working at or alongside a fintech or technology-forward RIA.
  • Familiarity with IPS compliance or institutional performance reporting standards.
  • Prior experience building or relaunching an Investment Committee or governance framework.
  • Background in alternatives, tax-aware investing, or direct indexing strategies.
  • Experience developing or managing a third-party vendor due diligence program.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
