Systems Integration Engineer – Actuator Testing

Figure is an AI Robotics company pioneering the development of a general-purpose humanoid designed to address labor shortages and tackle corporate tasks that are undesirable or unsafe. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, our team collaborates on-site five days a week.
We are seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer to lead the testing infrastructure and activities of our actuation systems, spanning development, validation, and End-of-Line (EOL) testing. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of robust, high-performance actuation solutions for our humanoid.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of actuator and motor testing, including setup and operation of testing systems.
- Analyze test data to extract meaningful insights and ensure performance criteria are met.
- Oversee and execute integration of testing fixtures, including instrumentation, wiring, and mechanical configurations.
- Perform instrumentation and metrology calibrations for testing systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain testing fixtures to ensure seamless operation.
- Provide actionable feedback to test development engineers, contributing to efficient solutions for actuator and motor testing.
- Collaborate on the design and specification of actuator testing systems.
- Document integration processes, test plans, and validation results with precision and clarity.
- Provide training and technical support to team members to foster expertise in testing processes.
- Develop cross-disciplinary knowledge of actuation subsystems to drive continuous improvement.
- Generate high-quality reports on actuation performance testing to inform and influence engineering decisions.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on experience as a test engineer for actuation systems.
- Multidisciplinary knowledge spanning electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python.
- Ability to read and create schematics for testing systems.
- Capability to design, create, and implement wiring for testing systems and fixtures.
- Familiarity with interpreting and understanding mechanical drawings of actuation systems.
- Experience with dyno-based testing systems and motor characterization.
- Strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to document and present findings effectively.
- Resilient and proactive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Competence in hands-on lab work and advanced engineering analysis.
- Passionate about lab testing
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior experience with real-time testing systems such as DSpace or Speedgoat.
- Working knowledge of C++ for embedded systems.
