About the role
We are seeking an experienced Licensing and Exam Manager, this is a senior leadership position within the growing Legal & Compliance team. In this role you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies related to licensing, examination, and external review processes. This individual ensures that the organization maintains compliance with regulatory standards, achieves excellence in examinations, and successfully navigates external evaluations or reviews. The role requires strategic vision, operational expertise, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.The right person will enjoy both working with people and thinking about systems. This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program.
What you’ll do
- Oversee the organization's licensing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry-specific requirements.
- Establish and maintain a centralized system for tracking licenses, certifications, and renewals.
- Develop and streamline procedures for acquiring, maintaining, and renewing licenses.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to stay updated on changes in licensing requirements.
- Lead the planning, execution, and management of all external examination-related activities.
- Establish protocols for exam creation, delivery, and evaluation to ensure fairness and integrity.
- Coordinate all external reviews, audits, and evaluations conducted by regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, or other third parties.
- Develop and implement processes to prepare for external reviews, ensuring all documentation and requirements are met.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external reviewers, auditors, and licensing entities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate licensing, exam, and review strategies into organizational planning.
- Identify risks associated with non-compliance or external review findings and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry regulations and emerging trends to ensure the organization remains ahead of changes.
- Foster relationships with regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, and industry associations.
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the status of licensing, exams, and external reviews.
Key qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in licensing, certification, examination, or regulatory compliance
- Proven track record of managing external reviews or audits successfully.
- Expertise in state licensing, exam management, and external review standards and regulations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges in complex regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in using licensing management tools and software. Preference for candidates with experience navigating Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS).
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with regulators and internal teams.
The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $180,000 - $220,000. For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $163,000 - $199,000.
