Staff Product Designer
400M+ downloads. 75M+ monthly users. A decade of building – and we’re still accelerating.
Flo is the world’s #1 health app on a mission to build a better future for female health. Backed by a $200M investment led by General Atlantic, we became the first product of our kind to reach a $1B valuation in 2024 – and we’re not slowing down.
With 6M paid subscribers and the highest-rated experience in the App Store’s health category, we’ve spent 10 years earning trust at scale. Now, we’re building the next generation of digital health – AI-powered, privacy-first, clinically backed – to help our users know their body better.
The job
The Design team focuses on one (admittedly huge) thing, and they do it very well…
Making sure our users have the best experience on our app!
They’re data informed researchers, innovators, content and design experts, casting a laser focussed eye over the execution and validation of our platform and its features.
With new Design leadership in place, it’s a truly exciting time to join the team. We’re building the foundations of a world-class function and anyone who joins will be building the future in the context of a hyper-growth start-up.
Design the future of everyday health, one joyful habit at a time.
At Flo, we’re launching a bold new direction — combining gamification, health data, and behavioural science to help millions of users build stronger habits and deeper self-awareness. We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to help define what that future looks and feels like.
This is a pivotal individual contributor role where you'll drive impact through your deep expertise and craft. You'll set the quality bar, tackle the most complex design challenges within User Centric stream, and architect scalable interaction and visual systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity to collaborate deeply with product, research, engineering, and content to shape an experience that's playful, emotionally resonant, and genuinely innovative for our users.
Your Experience
Must have:
- 10+ years of experience designing consumer mobile apps, with a proven track record of driving high-impact initiatives
- A portfolio that speaks volumes – showcasing deep systems thinking, refined visual craft, and truly user-centered problem-solving
- A razor-sharp eye for interaction design, coupled with a profound understanding of micro-interactions and motion to create seamless, delightful experiences
- Clarity and precision in communication — able to distill complex ideas into clear narratives that influence direction and drive alignment
- Strategic yet hands-on — comfortable shaping a high-level vision while diving into details to ensure design excellence
- Think beyond design — you connect user needs with business goals, technical constraints, and cross-functional priorities to drive well-rounded solutions
- Bias toward action in the face of ambiguity — you bring momentum by exploring, prototyping, and iterating your way to clarity
- Experience creating scalable design frameworks and contributing to design systems
- Proficiency in Figma and advanced prototyping tools like Protopie or Principle
- Strong self-awareness — open about your strengths and development areas, with a clear commitment to continuous growth and improvement
- A deeply collaborative mindset with strong communication and mentoring skills
- Commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and ethical design
Nice to have:
- Experience designing gamified or behavior-change-driven experiences
- Experience working in health tech
- Know-how using AI and LLMs to make interesting ideas from scratch
- Basic understanding of Lottie or Rive — enough to speak the same language with engineers
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Shape the vision and drive the design strategy and execution for ambitious, cross-functional product initiatives, from concept to launch
- Design playful, meaningful features that help users reflect on their well-being and build healthy habits
- Lead complex design initiatives from 0 to 1 and raise the bar on craft across the stream
- Turn ambiguous product and data challenges into clear, motivating experiences
- Develop interaction models and visual systems that scale and inspire others to build on them
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and mentor designers through feedback and craft excellence
- Contribute significantly to Flo's overarching design vision, evolving our design language, accessibility standards, and motion principles
- Champion inclusive, ethical, and emotionally intelligent design at every stage
Salary starting from £113,700.
