About the Role
Floodbase is looking to hire a full-time Director of Finance. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management and strategy of the company’s finance, people, and legal operations. This is a highly visible and cross-functional role, partnering with individuals across teams and levels. The ideal candidate has several years of experience building and maintaining financial systems is excited to join our organization at the ground level, and wants to dive into the details and build a high-performing organization.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Corporate Finance
- Financial Modeling and Planning - Build and maintain our annual plan, holding teams accountable to revenue targets and providing the leadership team with accurate forecasts to support executive strategic decisions.
- Examples include financial modeling with different scenarios for revenue and cost outlooks, BvA analysis, and managing an outside controller
- Investor Relations - manage the creation of materials for quarterly board presentations, monthly investor communications, strategic finance, and fundraising support
- Financial Operations - partner with internal and external teams to manage payroll, A/R, and A/P, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of financial statements
- Legal Operations
- Legal Operations - work with outside counsel to ensure our commercial agreements protect Floodbase’s intellectual property
- Contract Management - work with outside counsel to create standard templates and serve as reviewed prior to commercial commitments, ensuring compliance with all external parties
- People Operations
- Human Resource - manage our PEO and outsourced providers, design the employee handbook, take on mobility-related projects (e.g., visa applications), and conduct systems for on-off boarding
- Performance Management - manage our annual performance review process, compensation planning, and work to ensure our compensation and benefits remain competitive with the market
- Operational Excellence - create well-documented, repeatable systems that can effectively run on autopilot after conception, such as designing an employee onboarding program
- Strategic Projects in support of Floodbase CEO and executive team prioritized on an as-needed
Who you are:
- 4-7 years of work experience, including at least 2 years of experience in finance or accounting and at least 2 years at a venture-backed company
- Experience with legal work, such as contract negotiation with customers as well as external vendors
- Detailed-oriented with the ability to synthesize insights for an executive and investor-level audience
- Direct exposure to people operations such as benefits administration and performance management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Will reinforce a culture of excellence, raising the bar for those you work with
- Thrive in ambiguity, independently and effectively prioritizing across multiple workstreams
- Enjoy working cross-functionally and solving the challenges your colleagues face
- Currently based in New York or willing to relocate
- BA or BS required
Salary range:
Floodbase offers competitive salaries with regular reviews and adjustments based on performance and industry standards. The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience, with an expected range of $110,000 - $150,000. Additionally, this individual will receive equity compensation and a competitive benefits package.
This is a hybrid role requiring regular in-person attendance at our offices in Brooklyn, NY. We will be accepting applications for this role through January 10, 2024.
