The Role

The Senior Java Full Stack Developer role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys building scalable applications across both backend and front-end technologies. In this position, you will design Java-based microservices, develop modern web interfaces, integrate enterprise APIs, and support cloud-native deployments within AWS environments.

You will work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to application design, development, automated testing, deployment, and ongoing platform improvement. This role requires a hands-on developer who can solve complex technical challenges while delivering reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based architecture.
  • Build secure, reliable, and reusable RESTful APIs that connect backend services, applications, and external systems.
  • Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using Angular, AngularJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Participate in application architecture, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop cloud-native applications and support deployments within AWS environments.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain containerized applications using Docker, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot application, integration, performance, and deployment issues across the full technology stack.
  • Create and maintain automated functional, integration, and regression testing frameworks.
  • Develop automated test suites using Selenium, Cucumber, Maven, and related testing tools.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous delivery processes using Jenkins and other DevOps technologies.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, quality engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and help establish development standards, reusable patterns, and software engineering best practices.
  • Improve application performance, reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for application architecture, APIs, deployments, and operational support.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing, developing, documenting, and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Strong full-stack development experience across backend services and front-end applications.
  • Proficiency with Angular or AngularJS and modern front-end development technologies.
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and responsive user-interface development.
  • Hands-on experience developing or deploying applications within AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, or Amazon EKS.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and cloud-native application patterns.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments using Jenkins.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, and Maven.
  • Ability to build and maintain functional, integration, and regression test suites.
  • Experience with source-control platforms such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and application-performance analysis skills.
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum software-development environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Location and Work Requirements

  • This is a hybrid position operating on a rotating schedule of one week onsite at the client office followed by one week working remotely.
  • The first week of employment will require onsite attendance for orientation and identity verification.
  • Candidates are preferred near the following client locations: Westlake, Texas, Raleigh, North Carolina, Jersey City, New Jersey
  • To be considered for this position, candidates must currently reside in one of the following states: Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey
  • Candidates must reside within the physical United States. Candidates residing outside the listed states are not currently eligible for consideration.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. FormativGroup is unable to provide employment-visa sponsorship or assume sponsorship of an existing employment visa at this time.
  • Relocation assistance and relocation expenses are not available for this position.

We are committed to pay equity and transparency. The compensation range for this position represents our good faith estimate of the range we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, education, work location, and internal equity. 

In addition to hourly pay, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commissions, or other incentive programs, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, etc. 

Estimated hourly Compensation Range:

$42 - $50 USD
