Job Summary:
Fortis Fire & Safety is seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician – Inspections, Service & Projects to join our team in the Orlando market. This position supports fire sprinkler system inspections, service and troubleshooting, and project‑based installation work. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated fire protection professional with strong technical skills, excellent customer communication, solid computer and reporting skills, and the ability to work independently in a field‑based environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 25, Florida fire codes, and company standards.
- Inspect wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge, and fire pump systems.
- Identify deficiencies, document findings, and communicate recommended corrective actions to customers and management.
- Complete inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner using company software.
- Diagnose and repair fire sprinkler system deficiencies and impairments.
- Conduct service work including valve replacement, leak repair, component replacement, and system troubleshooting.
- Restore systems to operational condition while minimizing customer downtime.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status and recommended repairs.
- Assist with fire sprinkler system installations, retrofits, tenant improvements, and system modifications.
- Support project teams with layout adjustments, material installation, system testing, and commissioning.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with NFPA and local codes.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and customers as needed.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships and act as a trusted technical resource in the Orlando territory.
- Identify service opportunities, system deficiencies, and potential project work while onsite.
- Represent Fortis Fire & Safety with a high level of professionalism and uphold company standards.
- Provide feedback to management regarding market conditions, customer needs, and regional growth opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler inspection, service, or installation.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and applicable Florida fire codes.
- Experience inspecting and servicing wet and dry sprinkler systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and mechanical skills.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self‑motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Customer‑focused and relationship‑driven approach.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Availability to support emergency service and on call demands as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Certification in Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems (Level II or higher strongly preferred).
- Florida Fire Sprinkler Inspector License (or ability to obtain).
- Experience supporting fire sprinkler installation or retrofit projects.
- Experience working in a territory‑growth or start‑up environment.
- Experience with backflow testing/repair, fire pump testing/service, or low voltage fire protection system components.
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
