Job Description:
We seek a dedicated and detail-oriented Managing Editor for Europe and International Editions to join our growing media company.
Reporting to the Executive Editor, Europe, this role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and consistency of our brand across licensed editions, including print, digital formats, and conferences. Based in our London bureau, the ideal candidate will work closely with the European editorial team and international licensees to ensure content aligns with our core brand values and editorial mission while adapting our mission to reach a local language audience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the onboarding of new licensees, ensuring a smooth integration into our brand and editorial mission.
- Approve and assist in the recruitment and selection of key editorial staff at Licensees
- Conducted comprehensive training for London-based and international licensee editorial teams, emphasizing editorial standards and practices aligned with Fortune’s global brand and mission. Training will include collaborating with Fortune’s editorial teams (news, features, photos, design, social, etc.) and then conducting one-on-one training with the licensee editorial team.
- Manage and monitor the roster of freelance writers across Europe, including contracting and payment schedules
- Review pre-launch versions of licensed products, providing detailed feedback to guarantee alignment with our global brand identity.
- Offer ongoing support and guidance to licensee editorial teams, ensuring readiness for successful launches and throughout the term.
- Address and rectify any deviations from brand guidelines to align local editions with our global practices.
- Curate leading content from licensee editions for potential publication in English on Fortune.com and the print magazine
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in editorial roles within international media, with experience in managing licensed editions in translation
- Awareness of international media law and latest industry practices in international markets
- Strong understanding of brand consistency and editorial guidelines.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in digital and print media is essential.
