POSITION OVERVIEW
The Actuarial Intern will have an opportunity to work with one of the teams listed below:
Model Development
- Enhance model for new life insurance products such as Variable Universal Life, Survivorship Universal Life, and Linked Benefit Life Insurance.
- Develop MG-ALFA modeling and design solutions for life insurance financial reporting.
- Working with data process software, such as SAS and Python to streamline data and input processes.
- Working with actuarial financial automation process that integrates input preparation, MG-ALFA, and Integrate financial projection systems.
Model Production
- Working with data process software, such as SAS and Python to streamline data and input processes
- Use MG-ALFA and MG-Integrate modeling software to calculate SOP 03-1, GAAP Intangibles, and Fair Value of Liability (FVL)
- Analyze balances for quarterly GAAP financial reporting and help construct associated memorandums
- Explain changes to quarterly economic reserves used in reporting for the company’s captives
- Support internal and external audit functions
Experience Reporting
- Perform small scale experience studies – Wellness Utilization, Claim Lag
- Present findings from above studies at review meeting and write recommendation memos
- Working with data process software, such as SAS and Python to streamline data and input processes
- Assist with quarterly review and analysis of mortality and surrender experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern will be responsible for working on key projects supporting different facets of the Actuarial department. This opportunity will provide experience in modeling, valuation, or pricing, working directly with Actuarial team members and working on projects independently.
- Responsible for completion of projects in a timely manner
- Responsible for presentation of findings/results of projects to manager and/or team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrollment in a four-year degree program for actuarial science, math, statistics or related field; graduating in December 2026 or May 2027.
- Completion of an actuarial exam required
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
- Experience with SAS, Python, VBA or other programming preferred
- Ability and willingness to take ownership of projects
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability
