About GAM:

Galaxy Asset Management (GAM) provides a comprehensive suite of institutional-grade investment solutions via passive, active, and venture strategies. GAM combines traditional finance experience with crypto-native know-how to help investors navigate the digital assets and blockchain ecosystem with confidence.

Specifically, the GAM organization consists of:
-    Passive crypto-coin funds
-    Actively managed funds comprised of both traditional finance and crypto investments
-    Actively managed ETFs in partnership with established prestigious investment managers
-    Venture capital funds and opportunistic investments

GAM is one of the 3 core business lines which the Galaxy firmwide centralized Risk Management function independently oversees in a 2nd Line of Defense capacity, led by the enterprise Chief Risk Officer (CRO). 

Who You Are:

Candidate sought for GAM risk manager role within the Galaxy CRO’s risk management team. The candidate should have prior work experience in market risk management and deep knowledge of digital assets. Your role is to collaborate with portfolio managers and traders on portfolio construction, investment and risk analysis and ensure that the CRO and senior management is informed of the risks. 

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with CRO and other Risk managers to establish and operate the risk management framework for the global GAM business
  • Identify, measure, and manage financial and non-financial risks across GAM’s multiple business lines
  • Leverage on-chain information to enable data driven decision making and risk management
  • Build tools to extract information from DeFi protocols
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of systems to calculate risk metrics and performance evaluation
  • Communicate with risk takers to assess positions and volatility
  • Produce risk reports for risk takers, risk managers, and senior management
  • Analyze, assess, visualize and report risks to CRO, and senior management
  • Monitor risks across multiple time zones

What We're Looking For:

  • 6+ years of experience (risk/quant/trading, buy-side is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience of working with Portfolio Managers and knowledge of hedge fund strategies
  • Experience in regulatory engagements relating to asset management
  • Extensive knowledge of Risk Modelling e.g., stochastic volatility, factor risk modelling, PCA
  • Deep knowledge of Digital Assets and DeFi or a deep-seated interest to learn about this space
  • Degree in finance, computer science or other quantitative subjects
  • Experience in Python, SQL, and Excel and ability to build systems from scratch
  • Good communication skills and is a critical thinker

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with financial data and processes
  • Prior experience in an asset management risk role
  • Knowledge of crypto ETF market

The base salary ranges included below will be commensurate with candidate experience, expertise and local market. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise. At Galaxy, we maintain a total compensation philosophy which consists of a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and equity incentives.

Base Salary Range

$175,000 - $200,000 USD
