Who You Are:
You are a strategic and operational leader with deep expertise in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. With a proven track record in high-growth, industrial, or infrastructure-intensive environments, you are passionate about building world-class safety cultures and compliance systems from the ground up. You’re a hands-on collaborator, capable of working cross-functionally with construction, data center operations, legal, and executive leadership to proactively manage risk. You combine regulatory know-how with a commitment to innovation and excellence, ensuring Galaxy’s facilities and people are protected as we scale. You are results-driven, an effective communicator, and thrive in fast-paced environments where high standards are the norm.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive EHS strategy that aligns with Galaxy’s business objectives, operational footprint, and compliance obligations.
- Build and oversee safety programs, policies, training, and audit processes across all Galaxy data center campuses.
- Partner with site operations and construction teams to assess risks, implement mitigation measures, and ensure regulatory and internal compliance with OSHA, EPA, and relevant state/local agencies.
- Establish and track safety KPIs, deliver performance reporting, and lead root cause analyses of incidents, near-misses, and audits.
- Drive a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, education, and visible leadership, while fostering accountability at all levels.
- Manage external consultants, agencies, and contractors to support inspections, permits, environmental testing, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure EHS readiness during site acquisition, development, commissioning, and operational phases.
- Serve as Galaxy’s primary subject matter expert on all EHS matters, staying ahead of evolving laws, technologies, and best practices.
- Conduct proactive risk assessments across operations to identify hazards, analyze potential impacts, and implement preventive measures to minimize safety and environmental risks.
- Develop and implement EHS protocols and procedures specific to providing critical facility services.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS leadership, ideally in construction, data center, utilities, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations and industry standards (e.g., NFPA, ANSI, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Demonstrated success implementing safety management systems and influencing culture across multi-site operations.
- Deep understanding of risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA, JHA) and their application in dynamic industrial environments.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate data trends, and drive effective corrective actions.
- Ability to manage complex projects, synthesize technical details, and communicate risk clearly to executives and field teams alike.
- Experience building EHS functions from scratch in rapidly growing or startup environments strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel regularly to domestic sites and occasional international locations as needed.
