The role:
- As the Staff Systems Engineer, you will join a growing Platform Engineering team focused on expanding our Core Banking as a Service substrate to handle highly available, multi-tenant, multi-region services across diverse products.
- The role needs experienced engineers with excellent cross-functional and communication skills and backgrounds in operations, software development, systems performance, and resilience engineering. We must always focus on the quality of our customers' experiences.
What you’ll do:
- Build the future of Galileo systems by delivering a cloud-first infrastructure and application platform that is secure by default. This reduces the cognitive load on the product teams and thereby accelerates the time to market of new products and features.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product to enable security, resilience, and compliance outcomes in the hybrid cloud AWS platform through excellent technical design.
- Implement infrastructure as code core tenants to enable wide-scale collaboration across the organization.

- Partner with engineering and customers to design and Implement new solutions while improving the resilience of the modern surroundings.
- Communicate tradeoffs in implementation options to team members and leadership.
- Work across teams to ensure that the platform design meets the needs of internal customers and that the patterns can scale for 10 times our largest external customer.
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
- Communicate and collaborate with product and design
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 6+ years of programming experience, ideally on a modern stack.
- Hands-on experience with Continuous Delivery principles and techniques, including unit testing and build & deploy pipelines.
- Ability to lead and influence a team's technical direction
- Experience in the development of backend software development languages such as Python, Go, and Java.
- Strong experience building, analyzing, and troubleshooting scalable distributed systems.
- Experience operating in the Cloud, preferably in AWS.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux-based environments.
- Solid experience with Kubernetes administration and configuration
- Experience with observability and monitoring systems (i.e. OpenTelemetry, DataDog, )
- Demonstrated ability to design for fault tolerance and security while optimizing for high throughput, latency-sensitive workloads.
- Demonstrated experience in configuration management automation and orchestration using automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Chef and/or Terraform
Nice to have:
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as FinTech.
- Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and technical program management experience.
- Native/Professional Fluency in Spanish to Communicate with LATAM Team Members
US-Based Base Compensation
$153,600 - $264,000 USD
