The role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who can own complex data products end-to-end, shape engineering standards, and elevate how data is modeled, orchestrated, and delivered across Galileo. This role sits at the core of our cloud-native platform which powers real financial experiences for both internal teams and external clients.
You’ll collaborate with Product, Platform, and peer engineering teams to build a secure, reliable, scalable data ecosystem, and you’ll be a key voice in defining the standards, patterns, and best practices we run on as we grow. If you thrive in iterative delivery, enjoy solving complex data problems, and want your work to actually matter, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end data pipelines - design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT workflows supporting high-volume, high-quality data products.
- Develop performant, trusted data models including semantic layers, dimensional models, and curated datasets used across the business and by external clients.
- Break down ambiguous requirements and translate them into well-scoped technical deliverables with clear acceptance criteria.
- Implement data quality, governance, lineage, and observability best practices, including proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Drive root-cause analysis and preventative actions when incidents occur, raising the engineering bar with every fix.
- Influence cross-functional planning with Product, Analytics, and Platform to align priorities and deliver predictable outcomes.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- We’re looking for someone who not only raises the technical bar, but also strengthens our small, high-trust team through thoughtful communication, ownership, and a genuine commitment to being a culture add.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of professional, hands-on data engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Expert-level SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred).
- Hands-on Snowflake experience: modeling, performance tuning, modeling, transformation design, and warehouse optimization.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred) and its core compute/storage/data services.
- Workflow orchestration experience (Airflow preferred) and familiarity with frameworks like dbt, PySpark, or Snowpark.
- Experience deploying infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred) to manage cloud resources.
- Strong grounding in CI/CD, Git workflows, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
- A bias toward iteration, ownership, and delivering measurable value.
US-Based Base Compensation
$128,000 - $240,000 USD
