Staff Backend Engineer

Garner is entering our next phase of scale, and we are looking for engineers who can help us build the systems we need to keep up with our customer demand. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will be a key architect of our technical direction and processes, serving as a high-level problem-solver and mentor to other engineers on the team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Architect and scale our business’s core data processing pipelines
- Collaborate across disciplines and teams to deliver on our product goals
- Protect our users’ privacy and security through best practices
- Support our production operations and come up with solutions to lighten the operational load
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals
- 6+ years of industry experience building and maintaining scalable, high-quality software
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines
- Expertise in Python
- Expertise with SQL
- Expertise with Kubernetes
- Expertise with workflow engines (Argo preferred, but not required)
- Familiarity with data warehousing
- Experience working with back-end APIs and distributed event-driven architectures.
- Have worked with one or more database systems, especially PostgreSQL
- Worked on a team using Agile methodologies

The target salary range for this position is $230,000-$250,000 annually. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans.
