Community Affairs Summer Internship

As an Intern in the Community Affairs department, you will be assisting the Manager of Community Affairs with the company’s philanthropic and employee engagement programs in support of our Purpose to Be A Fuel for Good and the commitment to give 5% of profits to children in need. You will collaborate with the Manager to organize and execute employee engagement strategies and events. Creating internal and external communications, planning, organizing and executing volunteer events that require collaboration cross-departmentally, will also be part of this role.

A successful candidate for this role is detailed oriented, proactive, and an effective communicator. You are organized and able to prioritize your activities to ensure goals are achieved. Strong communication skills and relational acumen with the ability to engage your peers is critical. Experience in event management and volunteerism is a plus.
Other stuff we like:
- Sophomore Year completed – Rising Junior or Senior pursing a bachelor’s degree in social services, human resources, communications, marketing or a related field.
- Internship or prior relevant work experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suites.
- Experience using PR and social media applications (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook & Instagram).
- Strong relational acumen with the ability to engage in effective interaction and public speaking.
- Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups.
- Interest in developing content for a variety of social media and PR platforms.
- Proficiency in tracking and reporting metrics.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Excellent writing skills.
More details on what you would be responsible for:
- Conduct, track, document and report on surveys for all community engagement activities.
- Post events internally to employee engagement platform.
- Provide community engagement content internally for employees and the Marketing department.
- Build and manage relationships with local nonprofits.
- Assist with the volunteer program to ensure volunteerism is rewarding to the organization, to employees, and supports corporate goals.
- Abide by all corporate standards, policies, bylaws, rules, and regulations.
- Develop, organize, and execute exciting volunteer opportunities for employees.
- Assist with planning and execution of all Community Affairs initiatives.
- Help to track Community Affairs budget items.
- Track, measure and analyze results of Community Affairs initiatives.
Physical Requirements
Some heavy lifting, standing, and physical labor may be a part of this role. The ability to load/unload boxes from vehicles and rolling carts is required. This role also participates in volunteer service that can vary.
Location Requirements
After hours and weekend events are a part of this role. This role is expected to be in-person/on-site approx. 2-3 days per week to execute employee engagement activities and build internal and external relationships. Gainesville, Florida preferred and Metro Atlanta, Georgia acceptable.
What is an Internship at Gas South?
