Machine Shop Scheduler and Technologist
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Machine Shop Scheduler and Technologist to schedule efficient workflow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As the Machine Shop Schedular and Technologist, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently building the highest quality heavy-duty transit bus through the relentless pursuit of continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will be responsible for all aspects of producing quality parts and be a creative thinker.
As the Machine Shop Schedular and Technologist, you will report directly to the Supervisor of the Fabrication Shop.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Ensure error-free programs are created and maintained for assigned machines, by analyzing technical specifications, ensuring optimal machine performance and overseeing the programming being done by union-represented operators.
- Schedules job releases, maximizing machine uptime and material utilization in the most efficient way possible
- Work with supervisor to maximize workflow in accordance with capacity scheduling and crewing, while maintaining quality and quantity standards
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend, implement, and maintain corrective actions, focusing on continuous process improvement
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, Sales and Warehouse to optimize GILLIG’s internal supply chain and ensure required production material availability
- Ensure the continuous improvement of quality, service, and total cost in support of business goals
- Perform other duties as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years Fabrication / Machine Shop experience with knowledge of industrial safety, shop operations, and equipment
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and weldments
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), capable of interpreting and creating detailed reports and schedule documents
- Skilled in data analysis and decision-making skills based on large datasets
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Extensive CNC router (Fanuc controllers) experience, including setup and optimization
- Expert in reading and writing G Code programming
- Familiar with ERP/MRP systems, such as Syteline or SAP
- Deep understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Assignments are complex and broad in scope requiring outstanding creativity, superior initiative, judgment, and leadership
- This is an exempt role, and while typically follows a standard work week, 3-4 Saturday workdays per year are required to meet operational needs
- Regularly required to sit, stand and walk and occasionally kneel or squat
- Working environment includes office settings, manufacturing floor, and warehouse
- Start time: 5:00 AM
$70,000 - $110,000 /annual salary + premium benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job classification, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
